PRI in the Media
Communists in Control: Since the Sino-Vatican agreement, the situation of the Catholic Church in China has deteriorated, with religious leaders like Cardinal Zen undergoing persecution. PRI President Mosher joined LifeSiteNews correspondent Kennedy Hall to discuss the current situation of the Church in China and Cardinal Zen.
Absolutely Batty: The organization at the center of coronavirus engineering should be shut down, yet it is not only operating but thriving. The EcoHealth Alliance’s founder, Peter Daszak, funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan for a decade. Today, Daszak’s organization is still receiving federal funding for “pandemic prevention” from Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Health, despite the critical role it played in the pandemic.
Deepening Depopulation
Finland’s Fertility Rate: For the first time, researchers have been able to pinpoint a link between social media use and the falling fertility rate in Finland. According to survey data, respondents who are more work- or social-media-oriented are choosing lifestyle preferences over children. This response, along with the fertility rate dip of 1.87 in 2010 to 1.35 in 2019, could be accounted for by the spread of social media use in the 2010s.
“It is perhaps no surprise that increased social media use correlates with decreased fertility,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “After all, bringing new life into existence requires interacting with another human being, not just exchanging memes with random strangers. But, in the minds of many young people, the instant gratification of clever tweets and videos outweighs the deep and long-lasting joy of bearing and raising children which some, because of their addiction, will never know.”
Pro-Family Post-Dobbs: Hundreds of people gathered in Steubenville, Ohio for the “Restoring a Nation” conference last week. Several Franciscan University professors gave one particularly vital panel on the importance of modeling our nation after Hungary, where pro-family policy is in action and on display around the country. This would promote marriages and births in the U.S. while naturally lowering the number of abortions.
“Bringing back industry to the U.S. creates good-paying jobs which enable young men, especially those without higher education, to marry, have children, and fulfill their natural role as providers and protectors,” says PRI President Steven Mosher.
Communist China
Provinces Try New Strategies: In an effort to boost the birth rate in China, provinces are implementing different strategies. The Jilin state is now allowing single women to conceive children through IVF, a severe contrast to policy in years past which forced unwed, pregnant women to undergo an abortion. The policies in Hebei and Hunan are changing as well, from increased propaganda to “Operation Bed Warming” respectively.
“Allowing single women to conceive and bear children, whether naturally or through IVF, marks another step away from the one-child policy,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “Up until now, only married women have been allowed to bear children, while unmarried women who got pregnant were sent to abortuaries. It is a sign of how desperate the authorities have become to raise the birth rate that they are not just allowing, but encouraging, out-of-wedlock births.”
The Never-Ending Pandemic: The CCP is yet again doubling down on the zero-COVID policy, ahead of the 20th National Congress. Officials push that these measures must be “normalized,” sparking a response from political commentator Wei Xin. He stated, “Sticking with zero-COVID means … maintaining the authority of CCP Central Committee with Xi Jinping at the core. I believe that zero-COVID will continue for a long time after the 20th National Congress is over.”
PRI President Steven Mosher says, “The ChiComs, exulting in their absolute control over the Chinese people, are condemning them to permanent ‘Zero-Covid’ Hell. Zero Covid is today’s One-Child Policy—a tool of political oppression and control, bearing no relation to objective reality.”
UN Misdeeds
A Council Failure: China won a diplomatic victory at the UN Human Rights Council last week when a proposal to debate the abuses against the Uyghurs was voted down. Western countries put forth the bill, but China and its usual allies won the vote by two. This vote served as a test of the power between China and the West but was also a lost opportunity to bring abuses in China to the council for the first time ever.
“The UN Human Rights Council includes some of the worst violators of human rights in the world,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “Aside from China, countries such as Cuba, Vietnam and Nicaragua have managed to insert themselves onto the council, undermining it from within.”
Science Gone Mad
Pushing for the Abortion Pill: Pro-abortion advocates are pushing for the normalization of abortion-inducing drugs. Their most recent approach is to petition the FDA to make mifepristone and misoprostol accessible for “miscarriage management.”
Evidence Exposes Lie: The University of Pittsburgh swore under oath that it does not buy fetal parts from Planned Parenthood, but new evidence suggests this was a lie. Photographs and videos provided by 40 Days for Life volunteers show a vehicle from the Center for Organ Recovery and Education, an organization that procures tissue for Pitt, at Planned Parenthood. The video footage also shows a man placing specimen bags from the clinic into a cooler in the car.
Pro-Life Around the World
Marching in Mexico: Last weekend, over a million people throughout Mexico marched for women, life, and peace. The platform that called for the country-wide event, Mujeryvida.org.mx (Women and Life), had the support of more than 1,000 organizations that stand for pregnant women and the unborn.
Taking Suicide to Court: Assisted suicide activists in the Netherlands are taking the euthanasia ban to court. The activists, a group called Cooperative Last Will, claim that “denying its citizens the right to die” is a breach of human rights.
Pro-Life on the Home Front
Vandals Caught on Film: Pro-abortion vandals were caught on camera spray painting graffiti onto a Catholic church in Michigan. Half a dozen anti-Catholic and pro-death messages were left on and around the church. Despite the footage, the individuals have not been apprehended yet.
“Spray-painting death threats on Catholic Churches is obviously a hate crime,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “And it is being done, quite obviously, by pro-abortion radicals who hate the Church’s position that babies in the womb deserve our protection. So why hasn’t a single one of these violent radicals been rounded up by the FBI and charged with a hate crime? Everyone knows the answer: Because the out-of-control agency is too busy sending SWAT teams to the homes of peaceful pro-lifers, terrorizing their children, and leveling baseless charges of violating a FACE act.”
Inflation Over Abortion: There’s less than a month until the mid-terms and Democrat candidates are desperately trying to run their campaigns on abortion. But everyday Democrats are more focused on the inflation that is affecting them at home and the gas pump. These views are not limited to just one state but are shared around the nation as Americans struggle to stay afloat financially.
“The Schumers and Pelosis of the world were hoping that the abortion issue would help them turn out their voters for the midterms,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “The fact that inflation—now raging under the Biden Administration—is eclipsing that issue in the minds of Democrat voters is a very bad sign. It suggests that their party will fare very poorly in the upcoming midterms.”
Unborn and Born in Danger: Michigan’s Proposal 3 is known as the “abortion amendment” but it will do much more than that if passed. The proposal targets children unborn and born, the former with abortion and the latter with radical “gender-affirming care.” If passed, Proposal 3 will give children the “right” to puberty-blocking drugs and permanent sterilization without their parent’s consent.
Good News
Slowly Saving Babies: Pro-life activist William Haag has slowly but surely been converting a Spanish abortionist for five years. Haag works with 40 Days for Life in Spain (40 Días por la Vida) which has led 242 workers in the abortion industry to become pro-life in the past 20 years. In his work, Haag relies on the Holy Spirit to give him the graces necessary to love those who work in the abortion industry, as he works to convert them.
Quote of the Week
“Apart from the biologically proven fact that a real sex change isn’t possible, the fiction of freely choosing one’s gender is a denial of God’s will for our person. Every human being exists in (his or her) bodily nature in either male or female expression.”
~Cardinal Müller, source
