For the Record…

“Planned Parenthood and the media love to tout the supposed pro-abortion mind-set of America’s young people. A video produced by the Population Research Institute (PRI) shows those claims are simply not true.

“The five-minute video, released Sunday, documents last week’s March for Life in Washington, D.C., and the growing number of youths in attendance.

“‘America’s youth are turning out in increasingly large numbers to attend this event, and we wanted to give them an opportunity to speak for themselves,’ PRI President Steven Mosher said.

“‘Anybody who thinks that Roe v. Wade will not be overturned soon should watch this video. The future voters of America are pro-life.’”

“…Steven Mosher of Population Research Institute was told by the Colombian Vice-Minister for Health that, since the legalisation of abortion there last May, government clinics performed about 50 abortions, whereas it has claimed that 450,000 illegal abortions were taking place there annually. Mosher suggests that abortion figures for the developing world ‘are simply bogus’ and are used to show that legalizing abortion saves lives. Another… claim is ‘On the whole, abortion rates decreased more in developed countries, where abortion is generally safe and legal on broad grounds…than in developing countries where the procedure is largely illegal and unsafe.’”

“‘The breakdown of the whole notion of marriage did not begin with homosexual “marriage”,’ Steven Mosher. President of Population Research Institute told LifeSiteNews.com. ‘It ends with homosexual “marriage.”’

“[Homosexual “marriage”] is not the cause, it’s the consequence,’ said Mosher. ‘It’s the last thing to come in the train of the divorce revolution that began decades ago.’…Sweden may well portend the fate of traditional marriage and family in other developed nations as well said Mosher, pointing out that the Scandinavian nations were the first to pioneer laws detrimental to the family and to create a social welfare system that replaced many needs provided by married families.

“‘They were the first to liberalize divorce laws, they were the first to legalize abortion. They were the first to head down the road of viewing marriage not as a sacred covenant between a husband and wife, but merely an arrangement of convenience, a license you get from the state to live together. And if so, why get the license?’ stated Mosher…

“PRI’s Mosher says the traditional family has come to ‘the end of the road’ in Sweden, where over 60 percent of children are born to out of wedlock parents, and crime rates have risen, which Mosher attributes to the lack of the stability in children’s lives that is afforded by the traditional family. Now that marriage no longer has any special significance in society, said Mosher…

“‘When you allow homosexuals to marry, you are saying that the aspect of raising children, the aspect of procreation is completely irrelevant,’ warned Mosher. ‘You are finally divorcing what you call marriage from any relationship of bearing and having children, and that empties out the concept entirely, making it devoid of any significance. So it’s the end of the road for the family.’”

“For the past few days I’ve been reading Population Control: Real Costs, illusory Benefits, a forthcoming book by Population Research Institute’s Steven Mosher .…

“I find this information to be shocking, and I’m still wondering why we are funding family planning programs overseas to begin with? It seems like we have done more harm than anything.”

PRI does radio interviews two to three times each week. For instance, Steven Mosher was interviewed by Mark Siffer of WPOZ Toledo, in his 1:00 p.m. radio program on 7 February 2008.
