Mosher Challenges China’s Daycare Model: This week, PRI President Steven Mosher’s article was featured in The Times, where he criticized Tucker Carlson for presenting Communist China’s expansion of state-run daycares as a potential model for the United States. Mr. Mosher argues that Beijing’s childcare programs should not be taken at face value given the CCP’s history of coercive population control. He also challenges the claim that government daycare raises fertility, pointing to China’s continued fertility decline despite subsidies, fee waivers, and expanded childcare.
China Wants to Dominate the Future: This week, Steven Mosher appeared on One Nation to discuss the stakes ahead of President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s upcoming summit. Mr. Mosher argued that China seeks to dominate the future and will weaken the United States wherever possible to achieve that goal. He said Trump is unlikely to compromise on tariffs and warned that America must maintain superiority in AI and data centers to protect against any Chinese cyber threats that may happen in the future.
Trump’s Strategic Welcome for Xi: Mr. Mosher was recently featured in the New York Post, where he argued that President Trump’s red-carpet welcome for Chinese leader Xi Jinping should not be mistaken for weakness. Mr. Mosher says Trump’s hospitality costs America nothing while his trade and economic policies have put growing pressure on China. With China facing economic troubles, military purges, and other domestic challenges, Mr. Mosher argues that maintaining current U.S. policies positions America to outcompete China over time.
China’s Pressure on Catholics: Recently, Steven Mosher appeared on The Drew Mariani Show to discuss the Trump-Xi summit, the race for AI dominance, and the Catholic Church in China. Mr. Mosher argued that China has lost global influence while facing mounting debt and low fertility. He stressed that America must maintain its AI advantage and warned that Chinese Catholics continue to face pressure from the CCP, which seeks to force Christians to worship the Party above their faith.
Deepening Depopulation
Canada Stuck with Record-Low Fertility: Canada’s fertility rate remained at a record-low of 1.26 children per woman in 2025, virtually unchanged from 2024. Canada now ranks among the seven lowest-fertility countries out of 20 high-income nations. The average age of mothers giving birth also reached a record 31.9 years, up from 26.7 in 1976. Despite the low fertility rate, births increased 1.6% due to growth in the reproductive-age population.
“The Canadian economy is slowly being strangled by the socialists now in charge,” says Mr. Mosher. “It hasn’t grown since 2015 as Prime Ministers Trudeau and now Carney put the interests of the globalist elites ahead of the interests of Canadian citizens. Not to mention that the country is now euthanizing grandmothers against their will. Oh, Canada.”
American Fertility Drops by a Quarter: U.S. fertility has fallen by more than 25% in less than two decades, dropping from 2.12 children per woman in 2007 to a projected 1.58 in 2025, well below the 2.1 replacement level. Foreign-born mothers now account for roughly 22–25% of U.S. births, or 800,000–900,000 annually. The Congressional Budget Office projects that deaths will begin outnumbering births as soon as 2030.
“America must do something about its anemic fertility rate,” says Mr. Mosher. “What might move the needle is the pro-family agenda Vice President J.D. Vance has been pushing: make the medical cost of birth as close to free as possible; stop punishing stay-at-home parents in the tax and subsidy code; and give the same help to a stay-at-home mom that goes exclusively to those in the work force and commercial daycares. The administration has drafted a rule that would let a married parent caring for a child at home draw from the existing Child Care and Development Fund—roughly $9,000 a child—while a spouse works.”
Communist China
China’s War on Christianity Continues: Chinese underground pastor Ezra Jin Mingri is urging President Trump to press Xi Jinping on religious freedom and the release of eight Zion Church pastors still imprisoned in China. Jin was released in July after Trump reportedly raised his case directly with Xi. Since then, Jin says the crackdown has intensified, with continued raids, arrests, harassment, and pressure on lawyers representing detained Christian leaders.
“China has sternly ordered President Trump not to bring up human rights during their meetings,” says Mr. Mosher. “This practically guarantees that he will bring up the unjust imprisonment of Jimmy Lai and others by the Communist regime.”
UN Misdeeds
Pro-Life Voice Grows at UN: Pro-life leaders, diplomats, and lawmakers have taken the first step toward establishing a Pro-Life Core Group at the UN. Organizers say the group is needed to counter the UN’s evident promotion of abortion, where pro-life nations currently lack an equivalent coordinated voice. The coalition would build on the Geneva Consensus Declaration, which affirms there is no international “right” to abortion.
Pro-Life Around the World
Disability Advocates Voice Relief: Disability-rights campaigners in England and Wales have expressed relief following the rejection of the assisted suicide bill, warning that legalization would have endangered vulnerable people. Advocates welcomed the outcome while urging lawmakers to focus on improving palliative and social care for those who are suffering. MPs with disabilities opposed the bill by nearly two to one.
Grandmother Euthanized Against Her Will: The family of 83-year-old Brigitte Stegemann said she was euthanized in Ontario despite being confused about the procedure and expressing that she had made a mistake just two days beforehand. Her granddaughter says Stegemann performed poorly during a cognitive assessment and did not explicitly consent on the morning of her death. Belleville Police have opened an investigation, while the practitioners and care home reportedly maintain that Stegemann had legally consented to MAiD.
Pro-Life on the Home Front
California Abortion Shield Bill Vetoed: California Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed a bill that would have further shielded abortion providers who mail abortion pills into states with pro-life protections. Assembly Bill 2164 would have protected California abortion providers from being sent to other states to face criminal charges. Newsom rejected the bill over concerns about limiting future governors’ executive authority, prompting backlash from abortion-rights groups.
Six Months for Forced Abortion: Ohio doctor Hassan-James Abbas was sentenced to just six months in prison after forcing crushed abortion pills into his pregnant girlfriend’s mouth against her will. The girlfriend, Jona Affholder, escaped to a hospital, where she began hemorrhaging and ultimately lost her baby. SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser expressed that the sentence was alarmingly lenient and warned that the growing availability of mail-order abortion drugs creates opportunities for coercion and abuse.
Virginia’s Extreme Abortion Amendment: Virginia voters will decide this November on a sweeping constitutional amendment establishing abortion as a fundamental “right.” While the state could regulate abortion in the third trimester, it could not prohibit one when a physician determines it is necessary for the mother’s physical or mental health. Virginia recorded an estimated 39,500 abortions last year. The amendment’s broad language would extend the right to “reproductive freedom” to any “individual” in the Commonwealth.

25-Week Preemie Finally Home: Baby Levi, born at just 25 weeks and six days and weighing less than two pounds, is finally home after spending 135 days in the NICU. Levi faced several complications after his premature birth, including a dangerously slow heartbeat that required additional monitoring. After more than four months of care, he went home just in time for Mother’s Day.
