PRI in the Media

Abortion Chatbot Targets African Girls: This week, Pregnancy Help News featured PRI President Steven Mosher and Research Analyst Samantha Lejeune’s article exposing an abortion chatbot targeting African women and girls. Developed by abortion giant Ipas, “Nurse Nisa” operates through WhatsApp in Kenya and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, assuring users that abortion pills are safe for “women and girls of all ages.” PRI’s investigation found that the chatbot provided instructions for taking 12 misoprostol pills, suggested concealing abortion pill use from healthcare providers, and offered no prenatal care resources or alternatives to abortion.

Congressman Praises Mr. Mosher: Pro-life Congressman Chris Smith praised Mr. Mosher’s decades of work defending unborn life, human dignity, and religious freedom in China:

“For decades, Steven Mosher has been a courageous and influential voice exposing the Chinese Communist Party’s assault on human dignity, the sanctity of life, and religious freedom. Since the late 1970s, when he became the first American social scientist to conduct an in-depth study of a Chinese village, Mosher has almost single-handedly exposed the devastating human cost of China’s coercive population policies, including its brutal one-child policy. Through his work, he has brought international attention to this barbaric practice and the Party’s other abuses, including the persecution of generations of Chinese Catholics who have endured imprisonment, torture, and martyrdom.”

Deepening Depopulation

U.S. Fertility Hits Record Low: America’s fertility rate has fallen to another record low, with just 53 births per 1,000 women ages 15–44 in 2025, down from 54 in 2024, according to new CDC data. Birth rates declined among women under 30, while rising among those ages 30–44. With the cost of raising a child now exceeding $300,000 and marriage rates down 60% over five decades, America’s birth decline continues despite calls for a new “baby boom.”

“It will be impossible to Make America Great Again if the population of this country is aging and dying,” says Mr. Mosher. “That’s why the various proposals that we have been advocating, from ‘Making Birth Free’ to allowing stay-at-home moms to take the ‘Child-Care Deduction’ are so important. We need to encourage young people to marry and have children. Children are the only future a family has, the only future a nation has.”

Italy’s Births Plunge to Historic Low: Italy’s demographic crisis continues to worsen, with births expected to reach another record low in 2026. Just 355,772 babies were born in 2025, the lowest number since 1861 and the 17th consecutive annual decline. During the first seven months of 2026, births fell another 1.1%, while the fertility rate dropped to just 1.13 children per woman. Despite government efforts to encourage larger families, Italy’s population decline shows no signs of reversing.

Communist China

China Still Haunted by One-Child Policy: A new study reveals that decades of China’s brutal one-child policy continue to discourage families from having children. Chinese respondents reported 250% more discrimination based on family size than those in Japan or South Korea. The policy, enforced through forced abortions, sterilizations, fines, and arrests, has left a lasting mark on Chinese society. The Chinese Communist Party is now making efforts to encourage larger families, but China’s fertility rate remains at just 0.9 children per woman.

“China’s future has been deeply compromised by the misguided one-child policy,” says Mr. Mosher. “That country is older and poorer because of the wanton elimination of 400 million unborn children over the course of nearly four decades. Its decline over time is now inevitable as the total fertility rate is less than one, and continues to fall.”

UN Misdeeds

WHO Targets Pro-Life Speech: The World Health Organization (WHO) is working with social media platforms and online influencers to promote its pro-abortion messaging under the guise of combating “misinformation.” Through its “Fides” influencer network and partnerships with social media platforms, the WHO seeks to amplify its pro-abortion narratives. WHO representatives also discussed influencing Google and YouTube search results and using artificial intelligence to prioritize WHO-approved information, raising concerns that pro-life voices and pregnancy resource centers could be suppressed.

Pro-Life Around the World

Poland Votes to Expand Abortion: Poland’s parliament has approved two bills that would roll back protections for unborn babies. The first would overturn a 2020 Constitutional Tribunal ruling protecting unborn babies diagnosed with fetal abnormalities, while the second would decriminalize helping women obtain illegal abortions, an offense currently punishable by up to three years in prison. The bills passed by votes of 233–203 and 217–213. However, there is hope that pro-life President Karol Nawrocki will veto both measures.

Queensland’s Abortion Toll Revealed: Newly released abortion statistics reveal the scale of abortion in Queensland, Australia. An estimated 71 unborn babies lost their lives to abortion every day in 2024, nearly three every hour. In 2023 and 2024, 288 abortions at 20 weeks or later were attributed to “fetal congenital anomaly,” while another 244 were attributed to social or personal circumstances. Despite these staggering figures, restrictions introduced in December 2024 continue to prevent Queensland lawmakers from debating changes to the state’s abortion laws.

Euthanasia Deaths Soar in Australia: Euthanasia deaths in Western Australia have surged 243% since legalization in 2021, prompting calls for an urgent investigation. A new report reveals that 541 people died by euthanasia or assisted suicide in 2025–26, accounting for 2.9% of all deaths in the state. Nearly 30% of final requests bypassed the standard nine-day waiting period, while 32% of applicants cited fear of becoming a burden on others. Despite these alarming figures, the state’s Voluntary Assisted Dying Board is recommending further expansion of euthanasia restrictions.

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Abortion Drugs Still in Drinking Water: Senate Democrats are demanding answers from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over its investigation into abortion drug contamination in drinking water. The EPA launched the study in September to examine potential pollutants, including mifepristone and misoprostol. A July 2026 peer-reviewed study detected mifepristone in water samples from three American cities, raising concerns about potential risks to human health, including fertility, pregnancy, and fetal development.

“The Democrats endlessly clamor about clean air and clean water,” says Mr. Mosher. “Yet when a dangerous chemical is found in the drinking water of several major cities, they have suddenly reversed themselves, telling the EPA to stop efforts to curb this pollution. Why? Because the dangerous chemical in question comes from the Abortion Pill. Given a choice between clean drinking water and the ‘right’ to abortion, only a Death Cult would choose abortion.”

Massachusetts Fights Abortion Law: Pro-life advocates in Massachusetts are gathering signatures to challenge a new law signed by Governor Maura Healey in August that allows abortion at any stage of pregnancy for any reason. The Repeal 188 initiative needs 37,289 signatures to place the law before voters in 2028, or 49,716 signatures to suspend it before the election. Organizers are aiming to collect at least 50,000 signatures by October 23. Massachusetts Catholic bishops have condemned the law as “a radical measure which is gravely immoral.”

Good News

Young Men Embrace Pro-Life Movement: Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins says young men are joining the pro-life movement in “historic numbers.” The organization has partnered with Turning Point USA to launch an eight-campus tour titled “Feminists Lied: Prove Me Wrong,” challenging students to debate abortion. With more than 1,700 campus groups nationwide, Students for Life hopes to change hearts and minds while encouraging a culture where women feel empowered to pursue both motherhood and education.

Quote of the Week

“The story of the abortion pill was never simply about giving women another choice. It was about getting a controversial drug into the market, then making it ever easier to obtain, while the risks to women kept growing.”
