From all of us at PRI, we wish you and your family a Holy and Happy Christmas!

PRI in the Media

Fighting the Surveillance State: During his presidency and continuing today, Donald Trump pushed back against “fake news, partisan witch hunts, and censorship on social media.” With Democracy on the ballot in the 2024 election, PRI President Steven Mosher writes that it is critical to have a candidate willing to continue this fight against the surveillance state.

Deepening Depopulation

Culture Drags Fertility Down: As the year comes to a close, the Institute of Family Studies is resharing its top ten articles of the year. Coming in at #10 is the research from earlier this year on the real reasons behind falling birth rates. An issue that is not only economically driven but culturally.

Communist China

Military Mental Struggles: The CCP’s People’s Liberation Army is experiencing increasing levels of psychological issues, especially rising fear and anxiety. One PLA military commander shared that President Xi chalks this up to “peace disease,” which is a lack of combat experience.

Digital Opium: A task force in Taiwan is investigating the Chinese-owned social media platforms Tiktok and Douyin. Authorities fear the spread of Chinese propaganda and misinformation, especially its effects on the youth, along with the mass harvesting of user data.

“America should take its cue from Taiwan,” says PRI President Steve Mosher, “and ban TikTok from our shores.  Trump had been prepared to take action against this ‘digital opium,’ but Biden, whose son is in business with China, backed off.”

UN Misdeeds

Renewed Pushback: This year, Western delegates in the UN General Assembly met remarkable pushback on woke social policies. Over 60 countries rallied together to reject sexuality and gender ideologies, refusing to lose more ground after last year’s addition of “sexual orientation and gender identity” to a resolution on democracy.

Science Gone Mad

CRISPR Scientist Returns: Released from prison in April, the scientist who unethically created the world’s first gene-edited babies is returning to the scientific working world. He Jiankui announced, via social media, that he is turning his attention to gene therapy in adults. But many of his peers are still wary of his ability to conduct himself ethically.

Pro-Life Around the World

Arrested for Thoughts: A U.K. charity volunteer was arrested for praying silently on a public street near an abortion clinic. An onlooker reported Isabel Vaughan-Spruce’s presence, where she was praying in her mind, to the police. With the new buffer zones in place, this freedom of thought is not allowed.

“It is now a crime to even think loving thoughts in front of abortion clinics in the U.K.,” says PRI President Steven Mosher.  “One of the first countries to protect free speech is now busy dismantling it to protect the killing of the unborn.”

Rolling Sanctions: Two abortion clinics in Madrid were sanctioned for misleading advertising, which did not comply with regulations. This sanction came only days after the Supreme Court condemned the employers association that links these clinics for concealing the effects of abortion on women.

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Spreading the News: Since the overturn of Roe v. Wade, pro-life organizations have been under attack, but a surprising amount of people have not heard about it. According to a recent survey, only 37% of Americans have heard about this vandalism and violence. Of those, close to 100% disapprove of the attacks, whether they are on places of worship or pregnancy centers.

“The mainstream media buries news that doesn’t fit its leftwing narratives,” says PRI President Steve Mosher. “Not only do people not know about the growing number of attacks on crisis pregnancy centers, but they are clueless on a lot of other subjects as well.  We need alternative media–like the PRI Insider–to let people know what is really happening in the world as far as life, family, and faith issues are concerned.”

Heartbeat Heard in Guam: Following in Texas’ footsteps, Guam’s legislature passed the Heartbeat Act of 2022, which prohibits abortion after cardiac activity is detectable. Unfortunately, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero, known to be pro-abortion, is likely to veto the pro-life legislation.

“In other news you may have missed, the Guam legislature passed a bill modeled on Texas’ Heartbeat legislation,” says PRI President Mosher.  “Unfortunately, the governor, who is pro-abortion, may veto the bill.”

Abortion by Mail Begins: This week, Planned Parenthood in Kansas announced that they now offer medication abortions through telemedicine. This move came less than a month after courts blocked the state’s ban on telemedicine abortions.

Youngkin Under Fire: Democrats are attacking Virginia Governor Youngkin for setting aside $50,000 in the annual budget to enforce the 15-week abortion ban he supports. However, this is a standard procedure required for any legislation before it passes.

Good News

Home for Christmas: After 10 months in the NICU, a baby girl is heading home in time for Christmas. Baby Nora Keaton was born at just 25 weeks, weighing only 1lb and 13oz. After this long year, Nora’s parents are overjoyed to experience her first holiday at home.

Quote of the Week

“Here, surely, is the most pressing need we have, the highest aim of Advent itself, which is to bring to life yet again the one memory that lies deeper than all the rest, a memory without which we could not go on living and would die of despair…That an indestructible life has been promised to us, a life which we see inscribed on the face of a little child whose birth we shall soon celebrate, yet again, on Christmas morn.”
