A Thanksgiving Message from PRI’s President:

“Several years ago, I learned that there was more—much more—to the story of the first Thanksgiving than I had been taught.  It is a story of how our Heavenly Father watches over those who trust in Him.

We all know the story of the Native American, Squanto, who saved the Plymouth Colony from starvation by teaching them how to plant a New World crop with which they were unfamiliar: corn.  Equally important, Squanto also served as a kind of diplomat, helping to foster peaceful relationships between the Pilgrims and the local tribes. Without his help the colony might well have perished from starvation or war, as the Jamestown colony had just a few years prior.

What I belatedly learned, however, was that Squanto was Catholic.  He had been converted by Spanish friars, and so saw the pilgrims as his Christian brothers and sisters.  God always looks out for those who believe in Him, for which we at PRI gave thanks, on the 401st anniversary of the first Thanksgiving.”

PRI in the Media

Guilty as Charged?: Five former staff members of a pro-democracy Hong Kong newspaper, along with their CEO, pleaded guilty to collusion with Catholic publisher Jimmy Lai. Their crimes were allegedly in violation of the National Security Law, implemented in 2020. The predictions at its implementation, that the law would erode both free speech and democratic values in Hong Kong, are now coming true.

“Hong Kong’s National Security Law is so broadly written, and so draconian in its punishments, that it is clear that [its] real purpose is to terrify the people of that once-great city into silence,” PRI President Steven Mosher said. “I have no doubt that the corrupt prosecutors in the case threatened the defendants with life imprisonment if they did not plead guilty. Since the court would have found them guilty in any event, they essentially agreed to a plea bargain to get a shorter sentence.”

Biden Kowtows to Xi: Joe Biden made a point of meeting with Xi Jinping in Bali, but instead of representing a strong America, our president presented himself as a subordinate. The hot topics of China’s role in the fentanyl crisis, persecution of the Uyghurs, and the COVID-19 pandemic were all ignored. As PRI President Steven Mosher puts it in this New York Post piece, “Biden talks tough before the home team, but when he’s facing Emperor Xi, he kowtows as low to the ground as his creaky old bones will allow.”

G20 Pushes for Control: Ineffective COVID-19 policies should be laid to rest permanently, but the leaders of the G20 summit are hoping to keep one major policy indefinitely. In their declaration released Wednesday, these leaders pushed for the future use of digital documents that record COVID-19 vaccination status and testing results, as a requirement for travel.

PRI President shared with Church Militant, “The world is growing smaller. After locking us in our homes and out of our churches, they now want to lock us in our countries. It’s always about control.”

COVID Controversy

Safe or Not: During COVID-19 vaccination trials, the CDC specifically banned participants from getting pregnant and donating sperm, but why it did this is still unknown. Armed with this information, the Informed Consent Action Network is demanding evidence from the CDC on how the vaccine was deemed safe for pregnant women.

PRI President Steven Mosher says, “Covid-19 vaccine trials banned participants from getting pregnant or donating sperm during the trial. So how did the CDC conclude it was safe for pregnant women and unborn babies, ICAN asks the CDC. By looking at Pfizer’s profit and loss statements?”

Deepening Depopulation

Developing Countries Targeted: The UK government recently cut its foreign aid budget, reducing funding for abortions overseas, and one Peer is not happy about it. Baroness Rosel Marie Boycott is calling for a reinstatement of full funding in order to reduce the population in developing countries.

“Baroness Boycott is a radical feminist who has no children,” says PRI President Steven Mosher, “She obviously doesn’t want anyone else to have any either, which is why she wants to fund the UN’s population control efforts.  I suspect she thinks that there are far too few baronesses in the world, and far too many commoners.  But In my view, one barren baroness is probably all the world needs.”

Misguided and Dangerous: Calls for a one-child policy in India are getting stronger, a move that these writers call, “misguided at best, and dangerous at worst.” China’s current demographic crisis is a vision of the future for India, should authorities insist on implementing population control policies.

Communist China

An Elderly University: With individuals 60 years or older comprising almost 20% of China’s population, Dictator Xi Jinping demanded a national strategy to cope. Now the plans for a National University of the Aged are underway.

Rebellion Far and Wide: Protests are breaking out throughout China, occurring daily over COVID-19, labor and housing issues, and corruption. The rumors of an end to zero-COVID policy are not enough to quell the unrest, as citizens struggle with the lack of freedom they had previously accepted.

UN Misdeeds

“Reproductive Justice”: In its latest report on the Nairobi Summit Commitments, the UNFPA has announced their newest approach to pushing abortion through the UN. The “Reproductive Justice” framework aims to push abortion through by spinning it as a racial issue and human right.

Science Gone Mad

Alliance vs. FDA: In a one-of-a-kind case, four medical groups have joined forces to sue the FDA for illegally approving abortion pills. The Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine hopes to reverse the FDA’s approval, which categorized pregnancy as an illness and abortion drugs as its treatment, and protect women from harm as the Hippocratic Oath calls all medical staff to do.

The Embryos from ‘92: Last month, twins born in Oregon broke the record for longest-frozen embryos to result in a live birth. Lydia and Timothy Ridgeway were conceived in 1992 but were frozen until last year when their current parents adopted and implanted them. This procedure has its own bioethical implications, as procreation is still separated from unity of the spouses, and children are separated from their biological parents.

Pro-Life Around the World

A Pro-Life Warning: With Malta looking to ease its abortion law, Archbishop Charles Scicluna warned against compromising on the pro-life issue. Citing the case of the UK where “10 million pregnancies have been terminated by a few words in a law,” the archbishop called for strength in the protection of women and the unborn.

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Abortionist Unchecked: A notorious late-term abortionist is moving to abortion-friendly Colorado, conveniently escaping the investigation he is under in Nebraska. Despite his advanced age, Dr. Leroy Carhart shows no signs of retiring. Instead, he will continue to perform his horrific procedures in a state with no restrictions.

What the Future Holds: In an exclusive interview, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone answered seven questions on what the future holds for the pro-life movement. The archbishop called for action with programs such as Walking with Moms in Need, the USCCB’s own pro-life initiative, and changing the mindset of abortion as a good that has pervaded society today.

Good News

Forever Family: As National Adoption Month comes to a close, a dozen children are especially thankful this year as they were placed with their forever families. These nine families were celebrated in an adoption day ceremony made extra special by the Lancaster Bar Association which provided gifts and treats for everyone.
