Demographic Disaster
The United States saw the biggest single-year decrease in birthrates during 2020 with the current rate sitting at 1.64 births per woman, well below what is needed for replacement rate fertility. EWTN Pro-Life Weekly host, Catherine Hadro, interviewed the President of Population Research Institute, Steven Mosher, with regard to this statistical drop, which was unexpected especially in the light of predictions made in 2020 that COVID-19 quarantines would boost these rates.
In response, Mosher began by addressing why quarantines failed to induce American couples to have more children. The loss of jobs due to the pandemic created a world of financial instability that makes young couples feel unwilling or unable to bring a child into. On why a declining birthrate matters, Mosher clarified how this statistic can be a sign of not only impending demographic doom but also of economic failure. The United States has an undeniable need for young people, as they are the main drivers of the economy. If a country consists of a dying population, then the country itself is dying. This potential future mirrors the reality of Japan, the country referred to in the past by Mr. Mosher as the “Land of the Setting Sun”. Watch Here.
Presenting to Pompeo
During the Kansans for Life conference held the first week of this month PRI President Steven Mosher presented Former Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, with an award “For heroic service in defense of mothers and their preborn babies across the world”. Mosher’s introductory remarks were a commendation of Pompeo’s role in China policy and Pro-Life work.
In this speech, Mr. Mosher commends Pompeo’s work in the U.S. government as the “first Secretary of State in the last 40 years to get China policy right”, as well as “the first publicly Pro-Life Secretary of State since Roe v. Wade.” Mosher enumerated his accomplishments in handling the Chinese Communist Party, in addition to supporting national and international Pro-Life efforts.
Mosher addressed the current issue of late-term abortion in Kansas. The Kansans for Life had succeeded in their efforts for a state-ban on abortions past 20 weeks, but with recent state court rulings that ban could be struck down. With the world’s eyes on Kansas, Mr. Mosher expressed complete faith in Pompeo’s ability to “help hold the line in Kansas, so that Kansas abortion laws do not mirror China’s”. Read Here.
Soft on China
Dan Bongino, guest hosting “Watters World” on Fox News, brought in China Expert and President of PRI, Steven Mosher, for insight on the hypocrisy of President Biden’s attitude towards Georgia, considering the willful ignorance he has adopted towards the human rights abuses currently occurring in China. Biden fueled controversy over new election law in Georgia, by encouraging well-known businesses to fight against it. However, in direct contrast, the Biden administration states there are no plans to boycott the 2022 winter Olympics in Beijing despite the known human rights abuses occurring against the Uyghur people.
Mosher delved into not only the abuses against the Uyghurs, which include forced abortion and sterilization, but also the lesser known religious persecution of Christians, organ harvesting of the peaceful Falungong Buddhists, destruction of traditional Tibetan culture, and crushing of the democracy in Hong Kong, all perpetrated by the Chinese Communist Party. Despite these egregious crimes and the pandemic that China started, Biden maintains a relationship with Xi Jinping that does not involve discussing these matters whatsoever. Watch Here.
Climate Follies
In response to “Climate Czar” John Kerry’s recent agreement with the Chinese Communist Party, Steven Mosher addressed the major concerns that arise with any so-called deals between the CCP and the United States. The CCP is guilty of ongoing human rights abuses, has a history of breaking agreements, and is arguably the worst polluter of the 21st century as the “world’s biggest coal user”. Despite these obvious red flags, the Biden Administration will very likely crumble to the demands of the CCP that include deep cuts in emissions.
Mosher examined the obvious motives behind these actions of the domination-driven CCP. Were the United States to cave to these demands, the results would be two-fold. For Americans at home it would raise the cost of energy, lower standards of living, and make goods less competitive overseas. For the nation as a whole, it would weaken the industrial base, while bolstering China’s. Read Here.
Chinese Family Values
Senior Executive Producer and Host of Church Militant, Michael Voris, invited Steven Mosher onto this evening news briefing to discuss the supposed rediscovery of family values by the Chinese Communist Party. Voris shared that the Wall Street Journal has reported concern from the CCP over the decline of birth rates, even 5 years after lifting the one-child policy.
Mosher stated that it is “beyond ironic” that after forty years of violently enforcing the one-child policy, destroying the Chinese family in the process, that the CCP is backpedaling now. The government is encouraging family formation and childbearing, as well as making divorce more difficult to obtain and censoring voices of the feminist movement. Mosher expressed concern over a potential future where the CCP starts forcing women to bear children, in order to raise the national birth rate levels. Watch Here.
Demography is Destiny
Falling Birthrates
As of December 2020, the United States saw a steep drop in the national birth rate, continuing the trend downwards that began six years prior. Despite predictions that the coronavirus quarantine would boost these numbers, it is now clear that the opposite occurred. Over the course of 2020, births declined by 4%, according to the data. Since the last peak of the birthrate in 2007, it has fallen 19%.
This may not only be a temporary statistical occurrence due to the pandemic, but the beginning of a long-term societal change; It is a “piece of America’s shifting demographic picture”. The average childbearing age in America has shifted up, as less women have babies in their twenties. Whether this change is due to lack of financial stability or a growing strength of the pro-choice movement, the numbers revealing a below replacement rate of births do not lie. Read Here.

Extreme Statistics
Since New Zealand passed its radical pro-abortion law in March 2020, the country has seen a 43% increase in late-term abortions. Unfortunately, this percentage could be even higher as with this data the Ministry of Health mentioned that the estimated duration of pregnancy was unrecorded for 189 additional abortions. Overall, abortion numbers moved upwards between the years of 2019 and 2020.
The law, in the view of PRI President Steven Mosher, is one of the “most extreme abortion laws in the world”. The law in question legalizes the procedure for any reason until birth, including due to the sex or disability of the child. The “acceptable” disabilities include cleft lip, club foot, and Down’s Syndrome. Despite immense public backlash, the law has been sustained, with all measures to sensibly amend the bill being rejected. PRI’s allies at Family Life International New Zealand are doing all they can to help mothers in crisis pregnancies. Read Here.
Communist Surprise
Carlos Polo, Director of the Latin America office of PRI, analyzes the recent results of the first round of Peru’s presidential election, which revealed a surprising majority support for communist candidate, Pedro Castillo. He finished with 19% of all valid votes, despite pollsters predictions two weeks prior that placed him far from where he ended up finishing.
Struggling with political instability for years already, Peru stands to face an increase in “ineptitude, corruption and globalist agenda.” More recently, the country “holds the world record for the most deaths per million inhabitants,” with “a disastrous management mainly limited to very strict lockdowns.” Moving forward and depending on this election, pertinent issues such as the health and safety of millions of Peruvians may take the backseat to an inordinate prioritization of laws regarding gender, abortion, and euthanasia in Congress. Female Feticide
The reality of the sex selective abortion in India has finally started to come to light, as the effects from decades of “daughter aversion” are exposed by a multitude of individuals and groups, including PRI. The numbers of baby girls aborted far surpasses COVID-19 deaths, while receiving a fraction of the attention. Steven Mosher, President of PRI, stated in this article, “it is a human tragedy of enormous proportions.” Mosher has watched this tragedy unfold in India, stating in his book Population Control over ten years ago, “The real demographic horror show is not India’s projected debut as the world’s most populous country, but the elimination of an entire nation of baby girls.”
Besides PRI, another major group fighting against this slaughter is Alliance Defending Freedom, with their campaign “Vanishing Girls.” This group estimates that ~7000 baby girls are aborted in India daily. If these numbers continue, India will be facing repercussions for generations to come, including a major bride crisis. Read Here.
Communist China
China’s Census
China’s annual growth rate was revealed to have fallen in the past decade with the release of the once-in-a-decade census, providing evidence for a “demographic time bomb”. Over the last decade it has averaged 0.53%, which is down 0.04% from the previous decade. Besides the reduced birth rate, China is also seeing their population age as a whole, with the number of older people up to 18.7% of the total (5.44% more than it was a decade ago).
The reality of these figures will affect China economically and socially, as the available workforce decreases. Subsequently, this would impede its growth as a global superpower. According to a senior reproductive scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a population decline would impact China’s, “economic, social, science and technology, national defense, foreign affairs and other policies”. The one-child policy may be over, but the effects are just beginning. Read Here.
Science Gone Mad
Concerning Chimeras
Researchers in the United States and China announce that embryos composed of human and monkey cells have been successfully combined for the first time. At this time, these are being seen as “no more than bundles of budding cells in a lab dish”, but they still raise complex questions on moral status and ethical treatment. The entire project is disturbingly reminiscent of the quote from American cult classic, Jurassic Park (1993), “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should”.
One of the most concerning aspects lies with China’s (meaning the CCP’s) involvement. Resident China expert, Steven Mosher, stated, “For the amoral Chinese Communist Party, questions of morality don’t even factor into the equation.” Although United States scientist, Dr. Izpisua Belmonte, claims there is no intention of creating a fully-grown, living chimera, there is no guarantee from either country involved now that the scientific door has been opened. Fetal Tissue
The Biden Administration looked to withdraw support from moral and social decisions that were made under the previous administration. This began with lifting the ban on using fetal tissue from abortions, since self-proclaimed Catholic Biden “respectfully disagrees” with leaders in the church on federally funded fetal tissue research.
These decisions are not limited to those regarding unborn lives, but include cases involving protections from LGBTQ+ and Transgender ideologies under Title IX. These are the next targets of the Biden administrations to be struck from the record. A recent case at a Connecticut high school illustrates this development as biological males identifying as transgender females are now allowed to participate in women’s sports events once again, despite the efforts of the biological female athletes. Transgender Tides Turning
The case of Keira Bell was showcased in this article on the harmful effects of allowing teenagers to chemically and physically alter their bodies based on the condition of ‘gender dysphoria’. This landmark case, won by Ms. Bell against the “Gender Identity Development Service”, was the start of slowing the growing issue of these mildly named ‘inappropriate transitions’ and the permanent damage they cause.
The article delved into the multi-faceted issue of gender-transitioning. Children and teenagers need psychological assistance for the condition of ‘gender dysphoria’ (which is often cited as the root cause for necessitating a gender transition), rather than irrevocable medical “treatments”. They need guidance to find peace in their lives for, in the words of Mr. Mosher, “If you are at peace in your heart, you will be at home in your body”. Read Here.
