George Cardinal Pell, archbishop of Sydney, Australia, told the participants in World Youth Day that the chief threats to the Western world are apathy toward God and declining populations.
In no uncertain terms the cardinal, who is a friend and supporter of PRI, condemned promiscuity, the loss of family life and the threat of a declining population.
“There is a crisis in the Western world,” Cardinal Pell stated in his July 14th address. “No Western country is producing enough babies to keep the population stable. In many cases, there is an increase in divorces, an increase in serial monogamy.”
“We at PRI hope that not only the 225,000 young people who attended the World Youth Day celebration,” said PRI President Steve Mosher, “but also millions more around the globe, will heed the Cardinal’s call. The world needs more children.”
