PRI in the Media

In Bed with the CCP: Earlier this week, PRI President Steven Mosher exposed Tim Walz’s connections to the Chinese Communist Party. Even the Department of Homeland Security has concerns about the vice presidential nominee. According to Congressman James Comer, Chairman of the U.S. House’s Committee on Oversight, whistleblowers have revealed “serious concerns among DHS personnel regarding a longstanding connection between the Chinese Communist Party and Minnesota Governor Timothy James Walz.” The American public needs to clearly understand both what and who they are supporting in the upcoming election. Based on the evidence, it seems that if Mr. Walz is elected, the U.S. will face a significant escalation in the same entrenched corruption seen during the tenure of Joe Biden.

American Casualties: In May 2019, China declared a “People’s War” on the United States. In this article for LifeSiteNews, Mr. Mosher details what this war has looked like during the last five years. The main weapon in this war has been fentanyl. The precursors for the drug are manufactured in China’s labs before being shipped to the cartels in northern Mexico. From there, they are sent to the streets of major cities in the U.S., which have been turned into the 21st-century equivalent of open-air opium dens – or war zones. To add insult to injury, as American casualties mount, so do China’s profits. The next president would have the power to strong-arm China into ending this “People’s War” but whether this will happen depends on which candidate is elected.

Deepening Depopulation

Democrat’s Faulty Proposal: The Democratic Party’s proposal to provide affordable childcare for U.S. working families seems attractive but is fundamentally flawed. Just look at Canada’s experience with a similar initiative. Despite a massive investment of around $30 billion in 2021, Canada’s childcare system has led to chaos, with only 30% of families able to access reduced fees and a host of problems, including slow space creation and funding cuts. By focusing exclusively on licensed daycares, the Canadian government ignored alternative childcare arrangements that families actually use, resulting in increased demand and longer waitlists. Moreover, governmental overreach and bureaucratic red tape have stifled innovation and flexibility in the sector, leading to political conflicts and declining participation in child-care programs. The Democrats need to learn from Canada’s mistakes and reconsider this proposal, which would create a similarly inefficient and inaccessible childcare system in the U.S.

“Ronald Reagan once said that ‘The closest thing to eternal life on earth is a government program,’” recalled Mr. Mosher. “The reason is simple. Once this program gets going, the bureaucrats in charge have no incentive to actually solve the societal problem they are supposed to be solving, and every incentive to let it continue, and even get worse, to justify continued funding.”

Communist China

Honor the CCP?: Earlier this month, the priests in the government-controlled Patriotic Catholic Church of Gansu province participated in a “Party-Oriented Sermon Exchange Activity.” The theme was “Filial Piety in Chinese Culture and the Bible” and the goal was to educate the participants on how to prepare truly “Sinicized” sermons. Father Wu Binbin, a member of the Provincial Catholic Preaching Exchange Activity Propaganda Team, offered the keynote speech. He claimed that Catholic values and CCP ideology are intertwined. He even asserted that honoring elders extends beyond biological ties to include the CCP and its leaders, effectively framing the biblical commandment “Honor Thy Father” as a call to honor the party, which he described as the “father” of all Chinese Catholics and citizens.

“Communist Party propaganda has long portrayed Party officials as the fathers of the masses,” said Mr Mosher.  “But specifically invoking the fourth commandment to undergird the power of Party officials take this a step further towards the ultimate goal of replacing the Catholic Church with a false cult of the Communist Party.”

UN Misdeeds

New “Crimes Against Humanity”: A proposed treaty on crimes against humanity has caused controversy in the General Assembly. The treaty aims to criminalize the denial of abortion and expand the definition of “gender persecution” to cover advocacy for laws and policies that protect man-woman marriage and deny transgender policies. The draft treaty defines “gender” as a social construct encompassing sexual orientation and gender identity, potentially classifying opposition to liberal policies in these areas as crimes against humanity. This is another step in the ongoing trend of UN agencies openly supporting campaigns to persecute pro-life and pro-life family groups for their resistance to the push for pro-abortion, pro-LGBT, and pro-transgender policies.

“I have no doubt that, if Kamala Harris is elected, she would back to the hilt this treaty that makes pro-life laws a ‘crime against humanity,’” says Mr. Mosher.  “This despite the fact that the only crime against humanity that is actually being committed is the crime of taking the life of an innocent unborn child. Not to mention that this ‘treaty’ would make it a crime to defend marriage as the union of a man and a woman, or defend teenagers against genital mutilation under the guise of providing ‘transgender care’.  In other words, the treaty is insanity on a global scale, and must be defeated.”

Science Gone Mad

Paying for Smarter Babies: A U.S. startup, Heliospect Genomics, is offering wealthy couples the ability to screen embryos for IQ using advanced technology. This process clearly violates human dignity. The company has reportedly worked with over a dozen couples undergoing IVF, marketing its services at up to $50,000 for testing 100 embryos and claiming to assist parents in selecting children based on genetic predictions of intelligence. Managers at the start-up boasted their methods could produce a gain of more than six IQ points. Undercover video footage from the campaign group Hope Not Hate also revealed that the company ranks the embryos based on other factors as well, including sex, height, and health risks. While such selections are illegal in the UK, they are permitted in the U.S., where embryology regulations are problematically loose. The screening and ranking of embryos this way is eugenic, as well as immoral, and should be criminalized.

Pro-Life Around the World

Convicted for Silent Prayer: A British army veteran and Christian, Adam Smith-Connor, has been found guilty of praying silently outside an abortion clinic, facing a fine of nearly $12,000 as a result. The Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court convicted him for bowing his head outside of an abortion clinic in 2022, which was interpreted as “disapproval of abortion.” This “demonstration,” as it is being called, was simply Smith-Connor praying for his unborn son who had been killed at that abortion clinic two decades prior. The court imposed a conditional discharge on Smith-Connor and ordered him to cover prosecution costs of £9,000 (approximately $11,700), according to a press release from Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) International. This conditional discharge means that Smith-Connor will only face sentencing if he is convicted of any further offenses within the next two years.

Surrogacy Ban Expanded: Italy’s parliament has made it illegal for couples to travel abroad for surrogacy, a move championed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s party. The new legislation expands an existing surrogacy ban to cover those who go to countries where the practice is legal, imposing penalties of up to two years in prison and fines of up to 1 million euros ($1.1 million). This law was put in place to crack down on surrogacy tourism, which is essentially the trafficking of unborn human beings. It also exploits vulnerable women, often in poorer countries, by commodifying their bodies for profit. Meloni’s government is making strides in reinforcing and protecting traditional family values. Advocates for the law, including Senator Lavinia Mennuni, have also been sharing the truth that motherhood cannot be substituted and is fundamental to civilization.

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Buying Their Way In: Kamala Harris has failed to shed light on many of her views or policies in interviews. But it’s clear from her supporters–including abortionists, those who support transgender surgeries for minors, and pornographers–where her priorities may lie in the future. Groups from these three camps have reportedly invested over $100 million to influence a potential Harris-Walz administration. Notably, Planned Parenthood has pledged $40 million to promote pro-abortion candidates, while the porn industry is running a campaign against Trump, fearing potential restrictions. Additionally, the nation’s leading LGBTQIA+ pressure group, the controversial Human Rights Campaign (HRC), is contributing $15 million to the election, pushing for the candidate that will oppose protections for minors from transgender procedures. Activists and organizations in these three camps all aim to shape legislation that aligns with their agendas, buying their way in through donations to Kamala’s election campaign.

“There is a reason why every sexual fetish-ist under the sun has come out in support of Kamala Harris,” says Mr. Mosher. “That is because they see her and Tim Walz as kindred spirits who will sign executive orders and take executive action to promote their particular vices in the public arena.”

States Sue the FDA: Missouri, Kansas, and Idaho have filed an amended lawsuit against the FDA, arguing that their sovereign interest in protecting citizens was violated by the agency’s decision to allow mail-order dispensing of the abortion pill. Filed in Amarillo, Texas, the lawsuit seeks to reverse the FDA’s measures that have expanded access to the drug over the past eight years. The states point out that women face severe health risks due to the federal government’s neglect, with these dangerous drugs leading to increased emergency room visits. They maintain that the FDA has a duty to implement safeguards for high-risk medications but has failed to maintain essential safety standards for abortion drugs. The lawsuit will hopefully allow these states to uphold their interest in safeguarding their citizens.

Persecuted Young Mother: Bevelyn Beatty Williams, a 33-year-old pro-life activist and mother, began her three-and-a-half-year prison sentence on Wednesday after being convicted for blocking the entrance of a Planned Parenthood clinic in New York City during a protest in June 2020. Following the denial of her appeal, Williams reported to the Federal Correctional Institution in Aliceville, Alabama. Her conviction was based on a violation of the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, and her sentence is among the longest issued in recent FACE Act cases. Williams plans to appeal the decision while serving at a low-level facility and expressed her desire to return home to her family soon.

“As Bevelyn Williams begins her long prison sentence, BLM and Antifa activists who burned down city blocks and caused billions in damage in 2020 walk free,” says Mr. Mosher. “Most of those who were arrested were immediately released on bail and later had their charges dropped entirely. We can expect many more arrests of peaceful pro-life protesters if Kamala Harris, an abortion radical, is in charge of the Department of Justice.”

Good News

Happiest Gift on Earth: A couple from Australia was given the surprise of their lives when they became parents during their vacation at Disney World. Dayna Sly didn’t know she was pregnant when she and her partner Tony O’Keefe flew around the world to visit the “Happiest Place on Earth.” She had experienced a few symptoms that her doctors had chalked up to her getting off hormonal contraception. While hunkered down at the hotel, due to Hurricane Milton, Sly started feeling off. She gave birth on her own, at the hotel, with the power out. Thankfully, despite the hurricane, paramedics were able to get Sly and her baby, Audrey, safely to the hospital. Both mother and baby are doing well.

Quote of the Week

“All else we do will be ineffective if we don’t do this most important thing, living the life of beatitude, the life of the virtues. The solution to building a culture of life is us being true Christians, those who live by true wisdom.”
