PRI in the Media
Catholic Charities Exposed: An investigation by the Lepanto Institute has found that a significant majority of employees from several Catholic charities, including Catholic Charities USA, Covenant House, and Catholic Relief Services, are donating to pro-abortion and pro-LGBT Democrat candidates or causes. The analysis of 47,000 public records revealed that 83% of donations from charity workers went to Democratic political action committees, with only 16% directed toward Republicans. 99% of Catholic Relief Services’ employees in particular donate to Democratic initiatives. Earlier this year, a field investigation conducted by the Lepanto Institute and the Population Research Institute of CRS’s projects in Cameroon, Zimbabwe, and Lesotho exposed the charity promoting masturbation, condoms, and abortion in the African nations.
“Our friends at The Lepanto Institute have once again looked into political campaign contributions by the staff of major Catholic charitable institutions,” says Mr. Mosher. “It turns out that Catholic Relief Services, Catholic Charities, Covenant House, St. Vincent de Paul, Cross Catholic Outreach and Jesuit Refugee Service overwhelmingly support anti-Catholic Democrat candidates and causes. Only the Knights of Columbus staff was supporting Church doctrine on Life through their political contributions to pro-life candidates. My sons and I are proud to be members of the Knights of Columbus.”
Ideological Issues: Mr. Mosher joined Larry Kaifesh on The Constitutional Colonel to discuss the ideological connections between the Harris/Walz campaign and the CCP. He argued that Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz will be more detrimental to the U.S.’s relationship with China than President Biden, as they are ideologically aligned with authoritarianism and admire aspects of Chinese Communist Party rule. He compared their tactics to those of Chairman Mao, suggesting they utilize corporate media as a propaganda tool and the Democratic Party as a front organization. Mr. Mosher, a former Democrat, expressed disillusionment with the party’s shift towards Marxism, noting that many, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard, have left due to this transformation. He also expressed his hope that more individuals will recognize the party’s departure from its historical values and abandon it as well.
Deepening Depopulation
21st Century Eugenics: Eugenic practices are still happening in the United States today. Women with sickle cell disease face pressure from their doctors not to have children, and a recent study revealed that many of these women are also coerced into sterilizations. A STAT investigation revealed the issue of unwanted postpartum sterilizations, as evidenced by a study from Johns Hopkins University showing a higher rate of tubal ligations among women with sickle cell. Between 2012 and 2019, the average rates were 8.8% for women with the disease, compared to 6.7% for those without. However, in certain states like Alabama and Mississippi, the rates were even more pronounced. These women are often singled out by their doctors for population control based on their condition, despite significant medical advancements that enable individuals with sickle cell disease to lead long and healthy lives with appropriate treatment.
Communist China
Decouple From China: Experts from the Hudson Institute have issued warnings that American defense startups are overly reliant on Chinese components, posing a significant risk of exploitation by Beijing. In 2021, an American defense startup boom occurred, but many still depend on China for critical parts like motors, chips, and rare-earth minerals. This could allow China to undermine U.S. technology or impose supply chain disruptions. With limited financial reserves compared to larger defense contractors, these startups find it challenging to decouple from Chinese sources, despite recognizing the risks involved. This reliance on China for essential materials has raised national security concerns, prompting calls for comprehensive domestic mining reforms and partnerships with allied nations to develop alternative sources.
More Blacklisted Companies: The U.S. has banned imports from two more Chinese companies, bringing the total on its blacklist to 75. These bans are part of an effort under the 2021 Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) to combat forced labor associated with the Uyghur population in Xinjiang. The Department of Homeland Security announced that Baowu Group Xinjiang Bayi Iron and Steel Co. and Changzhou Guanghui Food Ingredients Co. would be prohibited from entering the U.S. starting at the beginning of October. This marked the first steelmaker and aspartame producer to be added to the list.
Science Gone Mad
Death & Donation: The medical community continues to normalize the prospect of merging euthanasia and organ harvesting. A recent study in JAMA Surgery examined how kidneys from euthanized patients perform better than those from traditional organ donors. The study framed the process of using euthanized patients’ organs as beneficial to society. However, this unethical practice could increase pressure to euthanize more patients, including those who are not terminal, in order to increase the supply of donor organs. This would be especially problematic if compensation were involved for organ donation and death, as the study suggests. Overall, these developments indicate a troubling trend toward the commodification of vulnerable individuals’ bodies.
Sarco Takes a Life: An American woman became the first person to use the Sarco suicide machine in Switzerland, despite its illegality being confirmed just hours before her death on September 23. The 64-year-old woman utilized the 3D-printed device in a forest near the German border, even after Swiss authorities, including the head of the Federal Department of Home Affairs, declared it prohibited due to safety and chemical regulations. Following the incident, four individuals were arrested, including Florian Willet, co-president of The Last Resort, an assisted suicide group associated with the Sarco machine. They face charges of aiding and abetting suicide, with police investigating potential additional offenses linked to Philip Nitschke, the machine’s inventor.
Irreversible Damage: A new database from the medical nonprofit watchdog Do No Harm revealed that over 200 hospitals and healthcare facilities in the U.S. provide irreversible transgender procedures, such as sex-change surgeries, puberty blockers, and hormone therapies to minors. This database clearly debunks left-wing claims that these “treatments” are not being administered to children. The analysis, based on insurance claims, shows that nearly 14,000 American children received such interventions between 2019 and 2023, with almost 6,000 undergoing surgeries and over 8,500 receiving hormone treatments. The database found that the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia was a significant provider, “treating” 122 child patients for gender transition. These so-called “treatments” cause serious long-term damage, including sterilization and significant mental health issues, to children who can’t comprehend what they are signing up for.
Pro-Life Around the World
Sex or Starvation: A coalition of LGBT activists has urged the World Bank to withhold loans to Uganda due to the nation’s Anti-Homosexuality Act, which they argue contradicts the organization’s values. Protests have occurred outside the World Bank and Uganda’s UN mission, signaling this clash between the homosexual agenda and offsetting Uganda’s severe poverty, where 42% of the population lives below the poverty line. The World Bank has previously halted financing due to the law, but Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni stood strong, advocating for the country’s commitment to its cultural values and sovereignty. However, the loss of these loans could have far-reaching consequences for the country’s development efforts, as they would be used to improve healthcare, agriculture, roads, energy infrastructure, and education.
“No one ever died from lack of sex,” says Mr. Mosher. “But people continue to die from starvation, as well as from preventable tropical diseases like typhus, typhoid, amoebic dysentery, and more. They also, in countries like Uganda, continue to die from HIV/AIDS, which is transmitted by homosexual activity. I understand that some homosexual activists are willing to die for sex. But why should they insist that others die as well?”
Save Born Alive Babies: In Queensland, babies who survive late-term abortions can legally be abandoned by healthcare providers, leading to tragic deaths without medical care. Traeger MP Robbie Katter introduced the Babies Born Alive Bill to ensure legal protection for these infants, but a parliamentary committee recently recommended rejecting the proposal. From 2018 to 2022, 161 babies over 20 weeks gestation were reported to have been left to die, with the total number exceeding 200 when including those under 20 weeks. Testimonies revealed that these newborns are often moved to separate rooms where they may take hours to die. Critics, including Cherish Life executive officer Matthew Cliff and Australian Christian Lobby director Rob Norman, expressed disappointment in the committee’s vague rationale for opposing the bill, arguing that it prioritizes abortion access over the care of surviving infants. They emphasize the need for legislative accountability to prevent further abandonment and suffering of vulnerable newborns.

Abortion on the Ballots: As November’s elections approach, voters in 10 states will face 11 ballot initiatives that could significantly impact the right to life, with most proposals expanding access to abortion up to the third trimester. Key states like Arizona, Colorado, Florida, and New York will present measures that, if passed, could allow for late-term abortions under various conditions. A notable exception is Nebraska’s Initiative 434, which seeks to prohibit abortions after the first trimester, while other initiatives, such as Nevada’s Question 6, would establish a so-called “right” to abortion before fetal viability or at any time during the pregnancy for the “mother’s health.” to protect the mother’s health. For more information on these ballot measures, read through Life on the Ballot. To get the word out further, PRI will be running a nationwide social media campaign with information on each of these ballot measures to spread the word until the election.
“The pro-life movement has to get back to winning,” says Mr. Mosher. “Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, it seems as if some people have been sitting back and expecting politicians to do all the heavy lifting in this regard. But we all have a role to play, especially in winning state-level ballot initiatives. Use your social media, talk to relatives and neighbors, and let’s start winning on the state level this November.”
Pro-Choicers in America: In a recent op-ed for Reason Magazine, Elizabeth Nolan Brown noted a shift in American attitudes toward abortion since Roe v. Wade was overturned, with more people identifying as “pro-choice” due to emotional narratives about pregnancy complications. The public has been bombarded with emotional stories that exploit tragic and difficult pregnancy complications or prenatal diagnoses, then given the false impression that those situations require abortion. But they don’t. In this piece, she highlights individuals like Audra Worlow, who oppose abortion morally but do not support banning it, fearing that pro-life laws could endanger women’s lives. However, as Brown argues, this belief is influenced by media portrayals rather than evidence, as no pro-life law actually puts women’s lives at risk. Despite this fact, polls show that up to 54% of Americans believe the decision to have an abortion should rest with the woman and 25% think it should be legal in all cases. However, support for abortion declines as gestational age increases, with 74% favoring access only in specific circumstances like saving the mother’s life. Thus, many Americans may consider themselves pro-choice, but their views do not align with extreme pro-abortion positions or the idea that pro-life laws threaten women’s health.
Victory in Georgia: In Georgia, the ongoing legal battle over HB 481, the Living Infants Fairness and Equality Act (LIFE Act), recently saw a significant victory when the state Supreme Court reinstated the law. This law protects unborn babies from abortion after six weeks. This ruling came after Fulton County Judge Robert McBurney had previously struck down the legislation as “unconstitutional.” Pro-life advocates have celebrated the reinstatement, emphasizing that it reflects the will of the people, while pro-abortion organizations, like Planned Parenthood, are bitter over the loss. Pro-abortion activists continue to try and tie the state’s pro-life laws to the case of Amber Thurman, a woman who died after taking abortion pills. However, this claim has been debunked and Georgia’s law does not prevent necessary medical treatment for mothers.
“Progressive judges are increasingly tyrannical, often refusing to abide by the clear letter of the law,” says Mr. Mosher. “That was the case in Georgia, where a ‘judge’ overturned a heartbeat law on the grounds that it was ‘arbitrary’ and ‘unconstitutional.’ In fact, it was his decision that was both arbitrary and unconstitutional, in that he attempted to engage in a raw act of judicial tyranny by axing a law that was passed by the Georgia legislature and signed into law by the governor.”
Good News
Saved Mid-Flight: A neonatal nurse saved the life of a baby born prematurely at 25 weeks, weighing just 820 grams, during a mid-flight emergency. While traveling from Haikou to Beijing, a pregnant woman unexpectedly went into labor and delivered her baby in the plane’s restroom. Chen Shanshan, the nurse on board, responded to the urgent call for help and immediately began performing CPR on the unresponsive baby until her heart rate stabilized. She also requested a hot water bottle to keep the infant warm, emphasizing the importance of temperature regulation for premature babies. The plane made an emergency landing to get the mother and child to a hospital, where Chen continued her life-saving efforts for about an hour and a half. The newborn’s father later expressed gratitude for her timely assistance, stating, “Thank you for being there at the critical moment. We will tell our kid and she will remember you forever.”
