PRI in the Media

Featured by NKYRTL: PRI President Steven Mosher was the featured speaker at the annual meeting of Northern Kentucky Right to Life.  Four hundred people, including many young people–the ones we especially want to reach–heard his message that America needs more babies.

Mr. Mosher also had a great strategy meeting with Congressman Thomas Massie about our joint efforts to stop the World Health Organization and other UN agencies from violating American sovereignty.  Massie has been one of the leaders in fighting efforts by the globalist forces who want to promote a culture of death within our borders.

The Journey Home: National Catholic Register recently featured Marcus Grodi’s latest book, Guideposts for The Journey Home. This book features spiritual testimonies from five key individuals who appeared on EWTN’s The Journey Home. Among these testimonies is that of PRI President Steven Mosher, who appeared on the show in 2005 to share his conversion story. Mr. Mosher’s conversion began during his time in China when he witnessed the brutality of the one-child policy firsthand.

In Mr. Mosher’s own words, “If you confront evil like that, you either have to conclude the universe is mad, there’s no rhyme or reason to anything, or you have to conclude that there must be a countervailing good, there must be a God, there must be something to balance this evil. And I didn’t want to live in an insane asylum, and so I began to seek God.”

Deepening Depopulation

EU Discusses Decline: A recent report from a Brussels-based think tank pointed out the significant strain that the impending decline in working-age Europeans will place on welfare systems and public finances in the near future. This report was prepared for the senior finance ministry and central bank officials from the EU’s 27 member states, as they prepare to discuss the demographic crisis. With Europe’s population aging, the number of working individuals contributing taxes will diminish while the number reliant on pensions and healthcare will increase. The report’s projections suggest a drop from 264 million working-age individuals in 2022 to 207 million by 2050 without net immigration. However, even maintaining the current level of immigration would not significantly counteract this decline.

Communist China

More Pets Than Kids: The “fur baby” craze has reached China, and the country could soon have more pets than toddlers. According to a recent report, the number of pets in China’s cities is expected to surpass the number of children aged four and under by the end of the year. By 2030, the number of pets in urban China alone will almost double the number of young children across the country, if this report’s projections hold true. Chinese couples remain hesitant to bring children into the world, despite government incentives, due to the high cost of child-rearing. As a result, more couples are adopting pets to serve as “pseudo-children.”

“I predict that the Chinese Communist Party will order them, sooner or later, to eat their pets,” says Mr. Mosher.  “I say this tongue in cheek, but it has happened before. When a case of rabies broke out in the county I was living in, the local health department ordered all the pets to be eaten. My own two dogs–Blackie and Whitey–were among the casualties, sold to a neighbor by my cook without my consent and consumed.”

China’s Christian Persecution: According to Open Door International’s World Watch List, China ranks 19th among 50 countries for the worst Christian persecution. According to the organization’s report, China’s high threat levels impact church life (96%), national life (87%), and community life (77%). The CCP also poses significant risks to family and private life. The wrongful imprisonment of Pastor David Lin is one example of this persecution. Pastor Lin was recently released from prison after 17 years of wrongful detention. He was detained in 2006 and formally arrested in 2009 for working toward his “vision to build a church and a Christian training center” and striving to bring the word of God to people in China.

“I believe that the threat level is even higher than this report suggests,” says Mr. Mosher. “Xi Jinping’s ‘Speech on Religion’ makes it clear that all religious communities should be led by the Party, controlled by the Party and support the Party.  Since the Chinese Communist Party is an atheistic cult, this formulation leaves no room for Christians to publicly live, much less proclaim, their faith.”

UN Misdeeds

Strategy in the Open: Pro-abortion advocates have openly admitted their strategy to promote abortion and sexual rights globally during discussions related to the upcoming UN Summit of the Future. Pro-life groups have been on guard for years, warning about the insertion of coded language like “sexual and reproductive health” into various UN policies. But pro-abortion advocates had never publicly admitted to this strategy, until now. During a recent discussion, pro-abortion delegates and journalists admitted their goal of inserting coded language in every area of UN policy as a pretext to get more funding and leverage to promote abortion. The spread of coded language in all areas assists in their secondary goal of pressuring countries to align their policies with these norms, despite the agenda’s lack of popularity, particularly in traditional societies.

Science Gone Mad

VIP IVF: Why are wealthy couples flocking to California to have children with artificial reproductive technologies? Because for the right price, you can practically design your own baby and you don’t even have to carry him or her yourself. As a result of liberal regulations, and a severe lack of respect for human dignity, California has a booming fertility industry. The state permits commercialized surrogacy, egg donation and sperm donation — as well as selection of sex and, in some instances, eye color.  California has a record 92 fertility clinics, some of which offer full-scale genetic tests that can analyze an embryo’s predisposition to more than 600 diseases and conditions. These clinics are making money off unethical procedures that contribute to the commodification of children and, in regards to genetic testing and the selection of physical traits, amount to eugenics.

Pro-Life Around the World

The Situation in Estonia: Estonia, despite its challenging history and pressures from neighboring countries, has maintained its unique culture and language since regaining independence in 1991. However, it is now facing a demographic crisis linked to internal issues rather than external threats, particularly due to a revival of anti-family laws reminiscent of the Soviet era. The birth rate has dropped to a record low while the abortion rate remains stubbornly high. Last year, 10,769 children were born, the lowest figure since demographic data was first collected, while 3398 Estonian children were killed through induced abortion. On average, a quarter of Estonian children are killed before they’re born.

“Life is under assault all around the world,” says Mr. Mosher. “Countries like Estonia with small populations are facing a very real threat: Extinction.”

Buffer Zones Approved: The U.K. government announced this week that it will be introducing buffer zones outside abortion clinics nationwide on October 31st, 2024. The buffer zones are part of the Public Order Act 2023, which became law last year. Pro-life volunteers will no longer be able to operate within 150 meters of “any part of an abortion clinic or any access point to any building or site that contains an abortion clinic.” Now the hundreds of women who are helped outside abortion clinics by pro-life volunteers may be denied such help. These volunteers offer practical support and make it clear to vulnerable, pregnant women that they have options besides abortion. According to the U.K. home office, “Anyone found guilty of breaking the law will face an unlimited fine.”

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Planned Parenthood Targets Children: You may know that Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the United States, but did you know that the organization is also the nation’s largest provider of sex education? The abortion organization’s website boasts that it reaches 1.2 million people a year through education and outreach. This sex education, carried out by teachers affiliated with the abortion franchise’s affiliates, targets children with a range of inappropriate topics. One lesson teaches children under the age of ten about prostitution. The curriculum also covers gender identity, LGBTQ “skills”, and how to get an abortion without parental consent or notification. Nowhere in the lessons are any mentions of chastity, expectant motherhood, fetal development, or parenting mentioned. Public schools are allowing Planned Parenthood “unfettered access to thousands of elementary, middle, and high school students.”

“The grooming of children by Planned Parenthood begins in elementary school,” says Mr. Mosher. “The destruction of their innocence is the first step in a process that Planned Parenthood hopes will lead them to one day become customers of the contraceptives, sterilizations and abortions that the organization is selling.”

Abortion Pill Misinformation: A ProPublica article this week claimed that a Georgia woman died after taking an abortion pill because the state abortion ban prevented her from getting necessary treatment. But a pro-life OBGYN, Dr. Christina Francis, says this story says more about the danger of abortion pills than about the abortion law. The woman, Candi Miller, ordered abortion drugs online and took them without medical supervision. The drugs failed to expel all of the unborn baby’s tissue, leading to an infection that ultimately killed her. If Miller had gone to the doctor for removal of the tissue left behind, Georgia law would not have prevented Miller from getting the necessary dilation and curettage, or D&C, procedure. If Miller had a severe form of any of her medical issues, then she still would have qualified legally under Georgia’s law for ending her pregnancy under the state’s medical exception. Every state abortion ban in the United States includes a life-of-the-mother exception.

“This story illustrates very clearly the horrendous experience that women go through when they take these abortion drugs. But [also], the real dangers there are when women take them, especially when they take them without medical supervision,” Dr. Francis shared.  “And this completely contradicts the abortion industry’s narrative that, one, that these drugs are as safe as Tylenol; and two, that self-managed abortions are perfectly safe.”

Fact Checking Harris: During the most recent presidential debate, Kamala Harris refused to clarify if she opposed late-term abortion. Harris even denied that these procedures occur in the United States. “Nowhere in America is a woman carrying a pregnancy to term and asking for an abortion,” the vice president claimed. “That is not happening — it’s insulting to the women of America.” The moderators did not fact check Harris, despite this claim being false. Over a dozen states allow on-demand abortions after the point of viability, and nine of those states permit abortions throughout the entirety of pregnancy. Both the Center for Disease Control and the Guttmacher Institute have released data in recent years on the number of abortions occurring after viability (21 weeks). On average, between 24 and 25 abortions in the 21st week or later occur every day in the United States.

Stallone is a Survivor: Sylvester Stallone recently revealed a shocking fact about his life: he is an abortion survivor. Stallone appeared on his daughters’ podcast, Unwaxed, to discuss the upcoming documentary, Sly, which takes a close-up look at his life. In response to the question “You had said that your mom was nervous to have you. She didn’t want you, right?”, Stallone shared the following: “Not at all. My mother would say, ‘The only reason you’re here is because the hanger didn’t work,’ or ‘Bouncing down those steps didn’t cause you to get lost.’” Thankfully, Stallone survived her attempts. Stallone’s story affirms that there are abortion survivors in the world, even among celebrities.

Good News

Four Sisters, One Birthday: Four sisters share the same birthday, despite being years apart in age! Nick and Kristin Lammert welcomed their fourth daughter, Valentina, on August 25. Valentina unexpectedly arrived a month early, and now stunningly shares the same birthday as her three older siblings, Sophia, 9, Giuiliana, 6, and Mia, 3, who all were also born on August 25. Despite coming a full month early, Valentina didn’t need any time in the NICU. This gave the Lammert family even more reason to celebrate. The chance of this particular coincidence occurring is 1.285 billion.

“It’s miraculous that she’s here safely, thriving and growing as she should be,” Kristin shared. “It’s miraculous that I’m healthy and alive. And then when you throw in the shared birthday factor, that’s miraculous and so unlikely in itself, and blows my mind every time I realize our reality.”

Quote of the Week

“The family isn’t mentioned in the U.S. Constitution, because the Founders took its existence for granted. We can no longer do so, since the family itself is under attack from multiple directions.”

~ PRI President Steven Mosher
