PRI in the Media
Infiltrating America: For the past few decades, the Chinese Communist Party has been setting up a massive propaganda apparatus in the United States. Washington “elites” have allowed China, the self-declared enemy of the United States, to build a vast network of front groups, Confucius Institutes, and media outlets across the country. Even more recently, TikTok and other social media have been added to the mix. In this New York Post article, PRI President Steven Mosher suggested a strategy of “strict reciprocity” to fight this infiltration of the United States.
Inside the Vatican: This week, Mr. Mosher appeared on Inside the Vatican to discuss the recent news that “Bishop Melchior Shi Hongzhen has been officially recognized under civil law as bishop of Tianjin” and more.
Coming Clash with China: Last week, Mr. Mosher joined The Carl Jackson Show to discuss:
- A senior aide to NY Gov Kathy Hochul was charged with spying for China
- National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan traveled to Beijing to maintain stability in the region, only to be chewed out by General Zhang Youxia
- How U.S. Progressives like VP Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz have adopted CCP tactics
- How China converts once pro-democracy Chinese-Americans into spies

Deepening Depopulation
Falling Fertility: North Korea has taken multiple approaches to raising the country’s low fertility rate. The fertility rate was estimated to be 1.81 in 2021, but recent estimations place it as low as 1.3 today. North Korean authorities are cracking down on illegal abortions and contraception. Two doctors who performed abortions on the side, to earn extra income, were recently arrested. The government has also put policies in place that reward families for having more children. This includes the provision of extra food for those with at least four children and building new homes for families raising six or more. Anonymous residents have shared their doubts over whether these policies will work. “Young women need to get married first to have many children, but young women, especially in urban areas, are giving up marriage, so the birth rate is decreasing over time,” one such resident shared.
“After living under 80 years of Kim Dynasty tyranny, having suffered through famines and purges, it is not surprising that the people of North Korea are reluctant to bear children,” says Mr. Mosher. “Children are living, loving, laughing signs of our hope in the future. The North Korean people, under the misrule of the latest Kim–Little Rocket Man as President Trump called him–are almost bereft of hope.”
Communist China
Foreign Adoptions End: After 30 years, China has ended its overseas adoption program in an attempt to bolster its population numbers. Hundreds of American families had Chinese adoptions pending, and are now in limbo. Since 1999, American parents have adopted over 80,000 children from China, making up about 29% of all U.S. overseas adoptions. The adoption program was temporarily suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, with no adoptions taking place during 2021 and 2022. In 2023, adoptions began again on a small-scale. Now, the opportunity for American couples to welcome Chinese children into loving homes has ended completely.
Mr. Mosher says, “After nearly forty years of wantonly destroying the unborn and newborn baby girls through the one-child policy, the CCP is desperate to keep what is left of its ‘breeding stock.’ That’s how the CCP regards the Chinese people–as a renewable resource to be exploited, controlled, and–if the times require it–-decreased or increased in number.”
A Devastated Family: After years of a little Chinese girl calling her “mom” from afar, one American woman has to face a future without her adoptive daughter. Aimee Welch, and her husband, began their adoption journey in 2017, when they welcomed a 1-year-old Chinese girl into their family. In 2019, they were matched with another child, a 5-year-old Chinese girl named Penelope. But the temporary suspension of adoptions during the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the couple’s trip to China to pick up Penelope and bring her home. Since 2019, Penelope has referred to the Welchs as her family, carrying around a blanket printed with a Welch family picture. With the end of overseas adoptions, the Welchs may never be able to bring Penelope home. Aimee and her husband continue to fight to bring their adoptive daughter to the United States.
UN Misdeeds
Focused on Race: The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) has issued a new recommendation promoting abortion as a means to address “racial inequality.” The UN group asserted that access to safe, legal abortion is part of the right to health and life under the ICERD treaty. The recommendation went on to argue that abortion restrictions disproportionately affect racial minorities and call for the decriminalization of abortion. The CERD used to remain silent on the issue of abortion until the international abortion lobby gained influence over the UN committee. The Center for Family and Human Rights contributed comments on the draft of this recommendation. It urged the committee to avoid exceeding its mandate by promoting abortion, which is not mentioned in ICERD or any of the other core UN human rights treaties.
“The abortion movement, which is driven by an unholy alliance between radical feminists, radical environmentalists, and general misanthropes, are practical racists,” says Mr. Mosher. “Why else would their abortion clinics be disproportionately located in minority neighborhoods? Why else would their programs at home and abroad always target ethnic or religious minorities?”
Science Gone Mad
Parental Stress Warning: The U.S. Surgeon General has issued an official advisory warning against the stressful nature of parenting and labeling it “an urgent public health issue.” This advisory cites data showing that parents experience more stress than non-parents and that sometimes, some parents’ stress levels are so high they cannot function. As author Kimberly Ells points out in this article, this may be the first time an official government entity has framed children as a “clear and present danger” to their parents. While some of the Surgeon General’s solutions are practical, the main solutions provided include increases in government intervention and childcare outside of the home. Neither of these will improve family life and reduce parental stress, but both will come with the cost of higher taxes.
“Despite the often chaotic and stressful nature of parenting, most parents see their children as a deep and satisfying source of joy — despite the pain,” Ells stated, “There is work and struggle in parenthood. That’s part of what you sign up for when you decide to welcome a helpless person into your life.”
Pro-Life Around the World
India’s Missing Girls: Thirty years ago, journalist and investigator Amitabh Parashar started looking into the work of five midwives in India’s Bihar state. These midwives had been identified by an NGO as being behind the murder of baby girls in the district of Katihar where, under pressure from the newborns’ parents, they were killing them immediately after birth. In the mid-90s, female infanticide was common across India. In 1995, more than 1,000 baby girls were being murdered every year in a single district, by just 35 midwives. It took the intervention of Anila Kumari, a social worker who offered to take in the unwanted babies and arrange adoptions, for the midwives to resist pressure from families and end the murder of baby girls in the late 90s. Thanks to this change, female infanticide has become rare in India. However, sex-selective abortion continues to take the lives of unborn baby girls in the country.
“Several years ago, PRI did an investigation on sex-selective abortion in India,” says Mr. Mosher. “Based on our estimations, 40 million women are missing from India’s population today, as a result of sex-selective abortion. The lives of approximately 40 million unborn baby girls were snuffed out because they were the ‘wrong’ sex. This is the worst kind of discrimination imaginable. It is discrimination that kills.”
Pro-Life on the Home Front
Exposing Christian Colleges: A recent report from Students for Life of America (SFLA) revealed that 83 Christian colleges and universities in the U.S. have ties to supporting abortion or Planned Parenthood. The Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement conducted the investigation, reviewing 732 Christ-centered institutions. The study gave each college and university a grade ranging from “A+” to “F.” The “F” grade means the school has four infractions or more. Thankfully, 591 schools received an “A” for either having no infractions or for severing ties with Planned Parenthood when notified by SFLA. Additionally, 58 schools earned an “A+” meaning they not only had zero infractions but also promoted alternatives to abortion, such as pregnancy resource centers in their respective areas.
Stop Proposition 139: The Catholic bishops of Arizona have vocalized strong opposition to Proposition 139, a ballot measure led by the pro-abortion group “Arizona for Abortion Access.” In a press release, the bishops criticized the proposal’s vague language, arguing it could lead to nearly unrestricted abortion by eliminating most state regulations and safeguards. According to the bishops, if approved, this measure would “likely remove most safeguards for girls and women that are currently in place at abortion clinics, permit a minor to obtain an abortion without parental involvement or permission, and allow for painful late-term abortions of viable pre-born children.”
Fraud in Florida: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently addressed a brewing scandal regarding fraudulent petition signatures for Amendment 4. Amendment 4 is an abortion ballot measure so extreme that the state of Florida has deployed resources to warn voters of the risks it poses to women’s health and safety. Governor DeSantis revealed that dozens of petition signatures submitted to get Amendment 4 on November’s ballot were submitted on behalf of dead people. Florida law enforcement plans to visit thousands of homes to confirm whether the petition signatures listed at those addresses are valid.
“Our tolerance in the state of Florida for any type of election-related fraud is zero. We are not going to put up with it,” Governor Desantis Stated. “And so if they have identified examples that are gonna be referred to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement those are gonna be pursued. If someone’s committing fraud that undermines your rights. As law-abiding citizens, we don’t want to go down that road.”
Good News
APR Saves a Life: Last year, a phone call to the Abortion Pill Rescue Network (APRN) saved the life of an unborn baby girl. In June 2023, a woman named Elizabeth went to Planned Parenthood and took the first pill in the chemical abortion regimen. After a call from her boyfriend, Ben, begging her to leave the clinic, Elizabeth realized she didn’t want to go through with the abortion. Frantic internet searching brought Elizabeth and Ben to the APRN. A prescription for progesterone saved the life of their baby. This year, the couple testified in favor of Heartbeat International’s Babies Go to Congress campaign, with their daughter, Evelyn, in tow.
Quote of the Week
“Many people have raised concerns over sex discrimination. But sex-selective abortion is the worst form of discrimination imaginable. It is not simply denying someone a job or a just salary. It’s denying them life itself. It is discrimination that kills.”
~ PRI President Steven Mosher
