PRI in the Media
Bishops Endorse Biden & Bernie: PRI’s Director of the Humanae Vitae Project, Dr. Christopher Manion, released an article regarding bishops’ support of the welfare state agenda. Amid other issues, such as the communion debate and federally-funded abortion, several bishops have written a letter in support of Biden’s Build Back Better Act. Read Here
“As St. John Paul II said in his apostolic exhortation Christifideles Laici, when politicians cry out for human rights but do not protect the basic right to life, their position on these other issues are “false and illusory,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “I wonder what he would say when Catholic bishops do it? But I think I know already.”
Demography is Destiny
COP26 Preaches Overpopulation: The COP26 conference on climate change was held recently and filled with the overused rhetoric of the “overpopulation” agenda. Despite the statistics from around the world that show global birth rates in decline, advocates such as Professor Paul Sutton have continued to call for aggressive population control. Read Here
Communist China
Holding the Advantage: Marine Corps Commandant David Berger released a bleak assessment of China’s advantage over the United States in both numbers and technology. Berger called for a revision of the Marine Corps composition and boost of the United States’ capabilities as China prepares to defeat a “strong enemy.” Read Here
“If the U.S. military follows through on Biden’s vaccine mandates,” says PRI President Steven Mosher, “we will fall further behind China in key areas. The Marines anticipate losing not just a few good men, but 12,000. This includes officers and senior enlisted, who are irreplaceable over the short term. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.”
Copy-Cat Warships: Satellite images of China’s north-western desert have shown the construction of mock-up US naval vessels. When confronted with questions on these mock-ups the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson claimed to have no information on the images in question. Read Here
“China is at war with the U.S. across all domains except the kinetic,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “And the fact that they are carrying out bombing runs on U.S. carrier mock-ups shows that going kinetic is not off the table.”
COVID Crackdown: China has continued to enforce a “zero-covid” policy, an unpleasant addition to an already hyper-controlled state for Chinese citizens. While public officials defend these measures, those that are able to avoid censorship complain of the fear and despair that these measures bring into their lives. Read Here
“It is a fantasy to think that it is possible to eradicate a highly contagious, airborne virus like the China Virus,” says PRI President Mosher. “Fauci and his compliant media have used China’s Covid zero policy to force harsh and arbitrary lockdown policies and associated violations of civil liberties on America. But even Communist China will be soon forced to admit, like Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, etc., that zeroing out Covid cases is a pathological dream. Now if we can just put Fauci in an orange jumpsuit…”
UN Misdeeds
Contributions to the UN: The U.S. State Department has announced an initial contribution of $5 million to UNFPA Supplies. UNFPA Supplies’ focus has been on the purchase of “abortion-inducing drugs and devices”, as well as contraceptives, describing these as essential to medical care. Read Here
Science Gone Mad
Autonomous Assisted Dying?: To win the voice of politicians and votes of the public, physician-assisted suicide has been touted as part of one’s right to autonomy. However Editor Michael Cook has laid out evidence that proves it impossible for assisted-suicide to be truly autonomous. Read Here
Pro-Life Around the World
Clash in Canada: Since Canada’s assisted dying act began in 2016, euthanasia and the practice of palliative care have been at odds. The MAiD Act has negatively affected the ability of those to provide palliative care. Read Here
Pro-Life on the Home Front
Exclusion of Catholic Providers: Catholic education advocates have pointed out that a minor change to the childcare program in Biden’s Build Back Better Act could exclude Catholic education providers. Although the program was designed to “expand access to families” by excluding faith-based providers it could have the opposite effect. Read Here
Invasion of a Catholic Campus: Despite pleas from the student body, the Catholic university, Loyola Marymount, has decided to allow a Planned Parenthood fundraiser to go ahead on campus. The university organization LMU Women in Politics has arranged this event and moved forward, despite backlash from current students and alumni. Read Here
Disguising the Abortion Pill: Researchers as UCSF have been working on on a so-called “missed period pill” that would not require a woman to know if she were actually pregnant or not. This pill would consist of a dose of misoprostol in an off-label use of the drug. Read Here
Preeminence Made Easy: Bishop Joseph Strickland released an explanatory video breaking down the term “preeminence.” This educational source also clarified that the right to life is the “preeminent social issue of our time.” Watch Here
Media Affected Millennials: Foundations of Freedom at Arizona Christian University have released an extensive study that examined the effects of social media on the “mind, heart, and soul” of millennials. Based on this study, Newsmax has released the statistics that “nearly one-third of U.S. millennials identify as gay or transgender and almost half the demographic group prefers socialism over capitalism.” Read Here
“Somebody needs to get cell phones out of the hands of children before they are permanently damaged,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “Many already are, as this poll shows. The sociopathological behavior resulting from spending more time on social media than actually interacting with real people knows no bounds.”
Good News
Forever Changed: The family that hiked mountains with their unborn daughter and sister, Ember, were able to spend an hour with their littlest family member before she went to heaven. The father, Joe Baker, shared that he and his family were forever changed by her life. Read Here.
Quote of the Week
“In effect the acknowledgment of the personal dignity of every human being demands the respect, the defence and the promotion of the rights of the human person. It is a question of inherent, universal and inviolable rights. No one, no individual, no group, no authority, no State, can change-let alone eliminate-them because such rights find their source in God himself.”
~ Pope Saint John Paul II, Christifideles Laici, source
