PRI in the Media
Vanished in China: PRI President Steven Mosher detailed the life of Chinese business woman Whitney Duan in this piece for the New York Post. Duan was a rising star in the business world until her disappearance in 2017. Her fate remains unknown. Read Here
Demography is Destiny
Latvia’s Demographic Disaster: Latvia has joined the ranks as yet another country running out of people. For several decades the younger generations have been moving away from their home country to seek better pay and more progressive attitudes. Those that remain cannot bear enough children to reverse this demographic slide. Read Here
Communist China
Planting Seeds of Protest: According to The Daily Signal, thousands of fake pro-China accounts exist across a multitude of social media platforms. These accounts have been responsible for promoting an American origin theory for Covid-19, and protesting any Chinese figures who corroborate the virus’s origin from China. Read Here
“The Chinese Communist Party has been actively interfering in U.S. domestic politics since at least the mid-nineties, when it was caught secretly funneling money to the re-election campaign of then-President Bill Clinton,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “The problem has only gotten worse—much worse—since then. At last year’s riots outside the White House, there were CCP operatives in the crowd provoking violence. China is a hostile foreign power.”
Biden & Beijing: According to Radio Free Asia, President Joe Biden and CCP leader Xi Jinping were in recent communication attempting to “manage competition between the two powers.” Tensions have risen as the U.S. is pressed to stand against China’s behavior in Tibet, Hong Kong, and Xinjiang. “After Chinese Communist leaders stiffed both the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and climate emissary John Kerry, Joe Biden himself called Xi Jinping to talk about areas where they might cooperate,” says PRI President Mosher. “After the Afghanistan debacle, arguably the most embarrassing international setback this country has ever experienced, this was just one further sign of weakness. That’s certainly the way it was read in the Chinese press.”
Science Gone Mad
Overhauling Fertility Rules: UK fertility rules are set to change in light of a technology breakthrough that may enable embryos to be frozen indefinitely without deterioration. The main change will allow doctors to store embryos for up to fifty-five years, a huge leap from the current cap at ten. Read Here
Pro-Life Around the World
Power in Numbers: An attempt to crowd out the UK March for Life by those who stand as pro-abortion completely failed. Only forty members stood for the “March for Choice” in stark contrast to the thousands that came to support the March for Life. Read Here
The Future of NFP: For years the Catholic Church has supported the practice of Natural Family Planning especially in light of Humanae Vitae. Now culture is shifting to support “natural contraception” with the popularity of tracking apps increasing. This could potentially open the door to a “new, post-Pill era.” Read Here
Family is the Foundation: In an age where love of one’s own children has now been labeled “systemic familial racism”, author Kimberly Ells has pushed back. She has defended familial love for its key role in the growth of generational family lines, which in turn build the “very foundation of civilization.” Read Here
Pro-Life on the Home Front
Biden Attempts to Block: The Biden Administration has taken official steps to try and block the Texas Heartbeat Bill. Their emergency motion could lift the abortion ban while the lawsuit challenging its constitutionality goes through the courts. Read Here
Eyes on Texas: With Texas forging the path ahead, other states with Republican state legislators have been taking notes. According to the Hill, this year, legislatures in the U.S. have passed the most measures against abortion than any previous year and these figures continue to look up. Read Here
Bold Born Alive Petition: The Right-to-Lifers of Massachusetts have been slowly forging ahead with a born-alive petition, despite the difficulties posed by being in a pro-abortion state. Whether the petition makes it through or not, the individuals leading the initiative are planting the seeds for future change. Read Here
Good News
Little Lives Matter: A joint effort between author Elizabeth Johnston and publishing house BRAVE Books is set to bring a new Pro-Life children’s book to the shelves. The book, titled Little Lives Matter, will help parents teach the truth and reinforce the sanctity of life. Read Here
Quote of the Week
“If a new mother cared no more for her newborn babe than for the baby in the next room, the world—and the babies in it—would be in a world of hurt. In fact, I submit such a world could not last one generation. Family love is not racism. It is the very foundation of civilization.”
