The leaders of the Chinese Communist Party have a lot to answer for. Clearly, it was the CCP’s coverup and incompetence that first allowed the Wuhan virus to reach epidemic proportions in China, and then spread around the world. A congressional resolution authored by Representative Jim Banks (R-Ind.) condemns China for these misdeeds. It should be an easy vote.

The Chinese Coronavirus has now spread to a reported 150 countries. But the rulers of the country where the pandemic started have good news: They have, they declared, won a complete and total victory over the dangerous pathogen. On Thursday, Chinese propaganda outlets reported that there had been “no new infections of the novel coronavirus” in Wuhan, which is ground zero in the global pandemic. As for China as a whole, they cited the National …

When the Chinese Communist Party implemented a “comprehensive two-child policy” in early 2016, outside observers assumed that it would be voluntary. And why should they not? To all appearances, this was a dramatic relaxation—a doubling, no less–of the restrictive one-child policy. But appearances can be deceiving, especially where China is concerned. Instead of enjoying a new dawn of reproductive freedom, Chinese couples are actually being herded into something resembling reproductive servitude.

This article originally appeared on Breitbart. As Air Force One lands at the dragon-shaped Beijing International Airport, President Trump will be treated to a skyline that didn’t exist until a few years ago. Most of Beijing’s old residential neighborhoods — called hutung’s — were deliberately destroyed in the frenzied build-out that preceded the 2008 Olympics. They have been replaced by stadiums like the Bird’s Nest (which actually resembles a giant bird’s nest) and by high-rise office buildings. Then there …

This article was originally published in the Washington Times on April 7, 2015. In outline, Mo Yan’s new novel, “Frog,” sounds subversive enough: A jilted Chinese midwife turns agent of the state. She is relentless in her pursuit of women who have conceived “illegal” second children. She is pitiless in coercing them one and all into terminations. But 30 years (and thousands of forced abortions) later Gugu — the midwife in question — has a …
