Upcoming Event

National Celebrate Life Day: Celebrate the first anniversary of Roe v. Wade’s reversal at the National Celebrate Life Day rally tomorrow, Saturday, June 24! Attend the rally virtually or in person on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to commemorate this historic event. Speakers include pro-life activists and leaders such as Dr. Alveda King, former Vice President Mike Pence, and Lila Rose. Learn more or register for the live stream here!

PRI President Steven Mosher says,

“On the one year anniversary of the fall of Roe v. Wade, we celebrate the tens of thousands of babies whose lives were saved by this momentous pro-life victory.

We also mourn the loss of the fifty-six million or so Americans whose lives were ended by the infamous decision that abortion up to birth should be the law of the land. Every third person under the age of fifty is missing from our population.  Everyone is poorer as a result.

We must continue to spread the pro-life message to our friends and neighbors, banning abortion, including the abortion pills, in state after state, until the land of the free is also a safe haven for life.”

PRI in the Media

Marriage Rates Plummet: China’s marriage rates hit a record low in 2022, further proof positive that the one-child policy crippled China’s future. PRI President Steven Mosher shares exactly how the one-child policy, which ran from 1980 to 2016, led to China’s current issues.

Remembering Tiananmen: Thirty-four years ago, the news of the Tiananmen Square massacre spread around the world. That week, Dr. Christopher Manion was informed of the events by a Chinese visitor, unnamed for security reasons. His visitor divulged how China’s “Cultural Revolution” in 1966 paved the way for the Beijing tragedy in 1989.

Deepening Depopulation

Social Media & Fertility: A star math lecturer shared his theory for why the South Korean birth rate continues to fall. Mr. Chung Seung-je placed the blame on social media, specifically Instagram, for convincing the youth that they are incapable of raising children. Mr. Chung’s theory was met with agreement online. Young South Korean couples believe they should not have children if they cannot provide them with a lavish lifestyle like the celebrities they see on social media.

“If parents want their kids to be socialized,” says Mr. Mosher.  “It’s obvious that they need to be kept off social media which has the opposite effect–isolating and insulating them from real life, including family life.”

Age to Marry Too High?: A Chinese law professor proposed that China lower the legal age to marry from 22 and 20 to 20 and 18 for men and women respectively. But his proposal was met with online backlash. Chinese netizens argued that lowering the legal marriage age will do nothing to solve China’s fertility crisis.

Communist China

Socialism Training for Christians: Christian professors from around China were recently summoned to Beijing for indoctrination. On June 2nd, dozens of professors completed a course covering Marxism and Xi Jinping thought at the Central Institute of Socialism.

“The Thought of Xi Jinping has become the new religion of China,” says Mr. Mosher.  “Priests and pastors are expected to preach it from the pulpit.  Even the Bible is being rewritten to conform to the thoughts of Dictator Xi.”

Getting Married Older: Statistics show the average age of Chinese entering into first marriages at over 27 across seventeen regions and provinces in the country. The average age stood above 29 in eight of the reported areas, with the highest average at 31. The reasons behind this rise include increasing urbanization and industrialization.

IVF Insurance in Beijing: The government of Beijing announced that sixteen types of assisted reproductive technology will be covered by insurance starting July 1st. Basic insurance plans under the city’s health care system will pay for artificial fertility treatments such as IVF and embryo transplantation. The move comes amid China’s efforts to boost a declining population.

UN Misdeeds

Spreading Radical Feminism: A new video by Janice Fiamengo, a retired Canadian university professor who combats radical feminism, exposes the U.N.’s mission to spread its ideology around the world. Fiamengo reveals the U.N.’s past attempts to weaken families and push a progressive sexual agenda through feminist programs. The video also argues that UNICEF’s overemphasis on girls and women leaves boys and men at a disadvantage in countries facing famine, war, or other crises.

Science Gone Mad

Embryos without Parents: A team of researchers from the U.S. and the U.K. announced the first ever creation of “synthetic” human embryos in the world. The embryos were created from stem cells rather than human eggs and sperm. They are in early developmental stages, though lacking a heart and brain. The Church takes a strong stance against these types of unethical experiments, stating the following in the Catechism of the Catholic Church: “It is immoral to produce human embryos intended for exploitation as disposable biological material.”

Abortion Regret Research: The Charlotte Lozier Institute conducted a study to collect accurate data on how women feel about their past abortion decisions. Unlike previous research on the topic, the study had a high participation rate and varied answer options. 43 percent of women described their decision as “Inconsistent” (with their own values and preferences), 14 percent as “Unwanted,” 10 percent as “Coerced,” and 33 percent as “Wanted.” Over half of the women shared that more financial and/or emotional support would have convinced them to continue their pregnancy.

“The abortion industry denies that women regret their abortions,” says Mr. Mosher.  “But in fact some 60 percent of women say that it was the lack of financial or emotional support that drove them to their decision.  Crisis pregnancy centers play a vital role in our fight to save lives.”

Pro-Life Around the World

Government-sponsored Suicide: New estimates from the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition uncovered a rise in government-assisted suicide in Canada last year. 2022 saw a 35 percent increase from the previous year with an estimated total of 13,500. Canadian lawmakers plan to further expand the national government program called “Medical Assistance in Dying” to include people with mental illnesses in 2024.

USAID’s Chief Responds: John Nkengasong, the head of the U.S. government’s international program to address HIV/AIDS, recently stated that the program “has never, will not ever, use that platform in supporting abortion.” Known as PEPFAR, the AIDs program is nearing its reauthorization deadline, leading pro-life leaders to ask Congress for additional measures to prevent the funds from being used to push abortion in Africa.

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Life in View: Testimonies from pro-life pregnancy centers show that ultrasounds play a crucial role in helping women choose life. Many stories revealed how women considered an abortion but changed their minds when they saw their unborn baby on the ultrasound.

“Ultrasounds change hearts and minds. Which is why we are providing them to clinics in Africa,” says Mr. Mosher. “97 percent of African women who see an ultrasound of their unborn child do not go through with an abortion.”

More People Pro-Life: A new Gallup poll shows that more Americans identify as pro-life and believe that abortion is morally wrong compared to last year. According to the poll, 41 percent of Americans identify as pro-life, marking an increase of 4 percent from last year’s numbers.

Good News

Baby Bonus: One company is encouraging its employees to have children with a monetary bonus. PublicSq., the largest directory of patriotic businesses in the U.S., is offering $5,000 to employees who have or adopt a baby. This is a major contrast to companies such as Amazon and Target, which pay their employees to have abortions.

“We at PRI offer a baby bonus as well,” says Mr. Mosher. “An extra $1,200 a year for every child one of our employees has. And they qualify not at birth, but as soon as they have conceived. Life begins at conception!”

Quote of the Week

“God put a price tag on every life — it says we are all priceless. Born or unborn, disability or not, God says we are all priceless.”
