The Inter-American Court of Human Rights Condones Killing Unborn Children in Latin America

A few days before Christmas, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IAHR Court) issued the worst judgment in its history. The case concerned Costa Rica’s law banning in-vitro fertilization, or IVF, but the judgment went far beyond this. The IAHR Court’s decision severely limited the legal protection enjoyed by the unborn that heretofore had been the pride and distinction of the people of Latin America. Many specialists in international law believe that the Court acted …

Ipas or IPPF?

The Manual Vacuum Aspirator (MVA) is small, lightweight and concealable—perfect for performing illegal abortions in Latin America. Ipas began life in 1973 as a one-trick pony. It was spun off of the Carolina Population Center at the University of North Carolina, Capel Hill, to manufacture, distribute and promote a single deadly device, a manually operated suction abortion device called a Manual Vacuum Aspirator, or MVA for short. But it has battened on foundation grants over …

Illegal Abortion Hot-Lines: A New Attack on the Unborn

The International Planned Parenthood Federation and its allies have come up with a clever new tactic in its war on the unborn.  They have decided to simply ignore existing laws protecting the sanctity of life and set up abortion hot-lines to encourage women to abort themselves. The president vetoed the bill only two days after Congress passed it, thanks to Vásquez’s party holding a majority in the Uruguayan government. The proceedings were marked by many irregularities and even blatant fraud. Enormous pressure was placed on Vásquez by his party (who …

President’s Page: The International Abortion Movement’s Stealth

In talking recently with the director of our Latin American office, Carlos Polo, I have grown increasingly worried about the gains that the abortion movement is making throughout Latin America. Their plan is clever — diabolically clever, one might say. Instead of seeking to overturn existing laws against abortion — nearly impossible in these Catholic countries — they are seeking to do an end run around existing laws by promoting chemical abortions. Anti-Lifers and Latin …
