PRI in the Media

Blindsiding with Bishops: The CCP blindsided the Vatican this week by appointing a new bishop without consulting the Holy See. This move completely disregarded the Sino-Vatican agreement, which was already “controversial” to begin with. Appointed by the state-controlled Chinese Catholic Bishops’ Group, Bishop Shein Bin is now in charge of the Diocese of Shanghai.

China Buys the World: Around the world, concentrated in the South Pacific and South America, are “Sino states.” Countries where ports, railroads, resources, and more are deep in China’s pockets. These indebted countries are part of the CCP’s plan to create global dependence, on its slow trek to global domination.

Deepening Depopulation

Fighting for Residents: Local leaders in Japan are recognizing the gravity of the demographic situation in their country. In response, leaders are boosting benefits in their cities, advertising new free programs. These efforts are not only to keep their current residents but also attract newcomers from neighboring towns.

Communist China

A Long Love Break: Nine vocational schools in China are trying a new approach to stealthily boost marriage and fertility. The schools are extending spring break, so students can “enjoy the blossoms, go fall in love.” The institutions have not confirmed that this is linked to the population problem, but it follows with the many other programs and policies being enforced across the country.

“The Chinese Communist Party is ordering the Chinese people to ‘Stay home and make babies,’” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “Coming as it does after nearly four decades of the one-child policy, it is unlikely that very many Chinese will actually take up the CCP’s order I expect.”

No Privacy With Pinduoduo: One of China’s most popular apps has been found to completely violate privacy. According to researchers, malware in the app, Pinduoduo, allows it to completely bypass cell phone security. This gives it access to private data, including other apps, notifications, and private messages.

UN Misdeeds

False Praise: The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) praised the document recently approved at the UN’s annual women’s conference. But the praise was for language that was—very intentionally—not included in the document. The organization commended the inclusion of a paragraph on comprehensive sexual education (CSE) that is nowhere to be found in the document.

Science Gone Mad

Global Infertility: According to a new WHO report, 1-in-6 people globally are affected by infertility. But instead of researching why this slow-growing pandemic is occurring, the WHO’s solution is invasive fertility treatments, such as IVF.

Pro-Life Around the World

A Strings Attached Budget: The U.S. has offered Ghana $139 million, which would support the country for the 2024 fiscal year. But this budget support comes with LGBTQ+ conditions that go against the country’s values. For this reason, the Catholic Bishops Conference has urged the Ghana government to reject this financial support.

“Kudos to the bishops of Ghana for defending the values of the Catholic Church and the people of Ghana,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “One wonders why the U.S. bishop’s conference is missing in action on this issue. Is it worried that the funding for Catholic Relief Services might be cut if they object to the radical abortion/LGBT agenda of the Biden administration?”

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Heartbeat Bill Advances: On Monday, the Florida Senate advanced the Heartbeat Protection Act. If signed into law, this bill will not only save most babies from abortion after six weeks gestation but also increase funds for pregnancy centers.

“The Florida state legislature has Republican, pro-life supermajorities in both houses,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “So the passage of this legislation should be a slam dunk. There are even enough votes to override a veto, although DeSantis has indicated he will sign the bill.  This is good news for Florida’s babies.”

An End to Abortion Trafficking: Idaho has passed legislation banning the transportation of minors across state lines for abortion without parental consent. But Planned Parenthood is outraged at the state’s end of “abortion trafficking.”

Good News

The Pro-Life Doodle: Google is owned by individuals who are vocally not pro-life, but its featured imagery this past week celebrated both midwives and babies in-utero. The “Google Doodle” celebrated 17th-century midwife Justine Siegemunde with an image of her, an unborn baby, and a mother smiling down at her little child.

Quote of the Week

“There is not, never has been, and never will be a single human being for whom Christ did not suffer.”
