PRI in the Media

The World Over: PRI President Steven Mosher appeared on EWTN’s The World Over with Raymond Arroyo to discuss his latest book. The Devil and Communist China, published by TAN Books, came out less than a month ago. The book lays bare the sheer evil of this hateful political system that has enslaved one-seventh of the world’s population and wishes to enslave the rest. It highlights the complete opposition of Communism’s darkness with the light and truth of Christianity.

Mr. Mosher also discussed this newest book with Steve Bannon on Bannon’s War Room, which you can watch here

FB Fact Checks PRI: Facebook’s “Independent Fact Checkers” have censored a PRI video sharing the truth about the World Health Organization’s Pandemic Treaty. The post even got its own article, written by an individual who also writes for left-wing sources such as The New York Times, CNN, and The Guardian. The article dismisses legitimate concerns over the WHO’s Pandemic Treaty, which includes wording that would enable the WHO to bring back the abuses of power that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. PRI is not the only organization working to stop the Pandemic Treaty, nor the only one reporting on this. Many outlets, including the Center for Family and Human Rights and the WashingtonStand, have been following the development of the treaty for the past year. ConservativeHQ raised alarms this week over the Pandemic Treaty and the amendments to the International Health Regulations that go along with it.

“If you’re on Facebook, you may see a blurred-out ad paid for by the Population Research Institute,” says Mr. Mosher. “That’s right. We are paying for an ad that Facebook ‘fact checkers’ are blurring out because it criticizes Biden for wanting to hand over U.S. sovereignty to the World Health Organization.”

Bishops Imprisoned: Multiple bishops of the underground Roman Catholic Church in China remain in prison, as the CCP increases its persecution of Christians in the country. One of these bishops has now been imprisoned for over 40 years, if he is even still alive. According to ChinaAid’s 2024 annual report on the CCP’s persecution of Christians, the communist authorities’ surveillance of religious leaders and their activities continues to increase. As does the insistence of the government that all religions implement a program of Sinicization. In a statement to LifeSiteNews on the situation of the underground Catholic Church, Mr. Mosher denounced the tragic fate of faithful bishops who refuse to join the state-sanctioned, communist-run Patriotic Catholic Church and the Vatican’s silence in the face of such persecution.

“All bishops who refuse to join the Catholic Patriotic Association are being placed under house arrest, or disappeared, by the CCP,” Mr. Mosher said. “Although the Vatican said several years ago that the Sino-Vatican agreement does not require anyone to join this schismatic organization, refusal to do so results in persecution and punishment. And the Vatican stands by and does nothing.”

CWR Reports the Scandal: This week, the Catholic World Report’s news round-up shared our findings that “Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is advancing gravely sinful ideologies in Africa.” In PRI’s collaborative investigation with the Lepanto Institute, we found overwhelming evidence of immorality in CRS’s programs. In order to further confirm our findings, Mr. Mosher arranged for a renowned moral theologian to look over the evidence and determine if it constituted moral evil. The moral theologian was Christian Brugger D.Phil. (St. Hugh’s College, Oxford), professor of Christian Ethics, author, and advisor to both medical and diocesan leaders on moral and ethical issues. He reviewed the findings of our investigation and found that they established, “beyond reasonable doubt, clear examples of five expressions of grave evildoing.”

Catch up on BABL: In case you missed it the first time, Mr. Mosher’s presentation from the Bring America Back to Life Conference was re-released on From the Median. Mr. Mosher was the opening speaker for the 2024 Bring America Back to Life Conference, hosted by Cleveland Right to Life. Mr. Mosher presented the content of his latest book, The Devil and Communist China. From Mao Zedong to Xi Jinping, Mr. Mosher detailed what communism has done to China. Furthermore, he described what the practice of communism, or socialism, could do to our country and the world.

Deepening Depopulation

A Silver Lining: New data regarding American fertility may hold a silver lining to the “birth dearth” that the nation is experiencing. As we have highlighted previously, the U.S. fertility rate is below replacement and, in general, continues to trend downward. However, data from 2022 suggests that while Americans are having fewer babies, the babies that are being born are more likely to be born to married parents. If this particular trend continues, it could help bring the United States’ outlier status of being the nation with the most kids raised in single-parent homes back in line with international norms. As the Institute for Family Studies states, “Initiatives to prop up the birth rate that do not aim to confirm the trend towards more children being born to married households are misguided and possibly counterproductive.”

Restore Fading Families: There are only two states in the U.S. with a majority of households consisting of traditional families. Traditional families are those that are headed by a married father and mother. Traditional families are correlated with financial success, yet only Utah and Idaho have these majorities. According to Census Bureau data from 2020, 57.8% of the households in Utah were headed by married couples of the opposite sex. While in Idaho, it was 53.7%. The rest of the United States fell between 49.4% and 40.6%. The rest of the families in the states are headed by unmarried opposite-sex couples, married and unmarried same-sex couples, and single parents.

Communist China

AI Ghosts: There is a new, and disturbing, AI trend occurring in China. Chinese citizens are using AI to create moving avatars of their beloved dead, as the annual tomb-sweeping festival approaches. Services online offer to create this avatar for as little as 20 yuan ($2.76). This interest in “digital clones of the departed” has increased as China’s AI industry continues to delve into the world of human-like avatars. According to one estimate, this niche market was worth ~12 billion yuan in 2022 and is expected to quadruple by 2025. China’s tech companies are becoming increasingly adept at creating digital humans, not only for mourning purposes, but also for the growing number of livestreamers who are “turning to AI to create clones of themselves to push products 24/7.”

Science Gone Mad

Eugenic Start-Up: A brand new start-up company is attempting to rebrand eugenics. The company, Orchid, sells “genetic enhancement,” which its founder, Noor Siddiqui, defends as “protect[ing] future people from future suffering.” Orchid provides the most in-depth genetic analysis of embryos available today by calculating “each embryo’s likelihood of one day suffering from any number of the more than 1,200 diseases and conditions.” Siddiqui founded Orchid because of a genetic condition that caused her mother to go legally blind called “retinitis pigmentosa.” This condition also served as her reason to be one of Orchid’s first customers. Orchid’s mission is inherently immoral as it requires perfectly fertile couples to create embryos for testing. If the Orchid method were the norm, all babies would be conceived in a petri dish and implanted after passing the genetic tests.

“How many babies must die so you can have a baby with the sex, coloring, or intelligence of your choice?” says Mr. Mosher. “Eugenics by any other name is still eugenics, a continuation of the ‘weeding of the human garden’ that Margaret Sanger so strongly advocated for.”

Pro-Life Around the World

Infinite Dignity: On Monday, the Dicastery for the Doctrine of Faith released its newest document, Dignitas Infinita. This document was surprisingly orthodox in its condemnation of gender theory, sex changes, surrogacy, and euthanasia in addition to abortion and human trafficking. All of which PRI opposes for the immoral treatment of human beings intrinsic in each. “In the face of so many violations of human dignity that seriously threaten the future of the human family, the Church encourages the promotion of the dignity of every human person, regardless of their physical, mental, cultural, social, and religious characteristics,” it states. We await further examination and in-depth analysis of Dignitas Infinita.

Pro-Life on the Home Front

A Major Shift: An unintended, but greatly needed, consequence of the overturn of Roe v. Wade was a significant decrease in America’s “hook-up culture.” In the year following the overturn, 78% of surveyed singles indicated that the lack of federal abortion protections affected their sex and dating lives. Since then this has increased to 87%, according to the most recent Match Group survey. In this same survey, 14% of the participants said they have less sex overall and decreased casual sex, while 1 in 10 chose to no longer engage in any sexual activity. Adults are becoming more concerned about premarital and extramarital sex, and shifting their perspectives on sex, dating, and relationships completely.

“The decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is the gift that keeps on giving,” says Mr. Mosher. “More and more young people are learning that no one has ever died from lack of sex, but a baby dies in every abortion.”

1864 Law Upheld: On Tuesday, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled that the state’s abortion law can take effect, effectively banning abortion in the state for any reason except when allegedly “necessary” to save a mother’s life. This is a victory in the pro-life battle of the states. This abortion ban, blocked by Roe v. Wade for decades, dates back to 1864 but was codified into law in 1913 after Arizona gained statehood. Its enforcement is delayed for two weeks to allow “parties, on remand, to determine whether to pursue remaining issues raised in the trial court and, if so, to request further stay relief at the trial court’s discretion.”

Good News

Joy and Redemption: In an uncharacteristic move, the Washington Post shared the beautiful redemption story of how a woman’s multiple failed abortion attempts ended up leading to birth, adoption, and redemption. Evelyn, a 25-year-old Texas woman, became pregnant after a casual encounter with a man she met via the Internet. She attempted her first medication abortion at 10 weeks pregnant and the second two months after that. It failed both times. By the time she considered surgical abortion, she was already 32 weeks pregnant. It was then that Evelyn considered adoption, which ultimately led to a happy, though emotional, ending of this story. Evelyn’s daughter Olivia was born and adopted by a loving mother, Carolyn, who had been trying to conceive for years. Today, both Evelyn and Olivia are thriving. Carolyn has even given Evelyn the chance to be in her daughter’s life, including at major milestones such as birthdays.

Quote of the Week

“In reaction to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, some areas of the country now protect the child in the womb, while others are doing all they can to increase access to abortion. At this critical moment, we have been entrusted with new opportunities and new responsibilities to build a civilization of authentic love.”
