PRI in the Media

Abortion Pushed Hard: Dr. Christopher Manion broke President Biden’s State of the Union address into three parts: immigration, the war in Ukraine, and abortion. The last of these has been a primary focus of the Democratic party this past year. It has been a year of endless propaganda, as “the abortion lobby thinks that time is on their side.”

A Dangerous Idea:  A Church Militant segment revealed that a dangerous movement is gaining traction: “transhumanism.” This “idea that technology and evidence-based science can and should be used to augment and improve humans in order to overcome the limitations that evolution has left us with” is comparable to Eve’s original sin. In response, PRI President Steven Mosher said, “The idea that ‘you shall be as God’—that we should take control of our own destiny by using modern genetic engineering to somehow improve ourselves over God’s perfect design for humanity—has been around for a long time. Unfortunately, now we’re getting to the point where we can actually attempt to do it. It will be crude and cruel, and it will kill and injure and damage enormous numbers of people, which perhaps may be its goal.”

Communist China

Sperm Banks Seek Students: Sperm donation clinics are offering monetary incentives to university students across China. This is the beginning of yet another desperate bid to counter the falling fertility in the country.

“Chinese sperm banks are collecting sperm from males they consider to be genetically superior,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “Eugenics has always been a part of the Communist Party’s Planned Birth program, of course, but the question now is what the government is going to do with the huge amount of sperm being collected.  Are we looking at forced pregnancy, now that China’s population is in absolute decline?”

Vaccine Reactions Rise: Chinese families are reporting major health problems and sudden deaths following COVID-19 vaccinations. But all attempts to file lawsuits over the side effects have been so far rebuffed.

UN Misdeeds

Stolen Tibetan Children: Three UN Special Rapporteurs exposed the forcible separation of Tibetan children from their families for re-education in China. Up to one million children have been taken for this “forced assimilation.” The UN members reached out to the CCP in November but went public after not receiving a satisfactory response.

“The racist Chinese Communist Party, which is dominated by Han Chinese, is forcibly assimilating all minorities in China as rapidly as it can,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “This is the deliberate destruction of civilizations in Tibet, Eastern Turkistan, and Mongolia that have existed for thousands of years by abducting and re-educating their children.”

Science Gone Mad

College Prep for Embryos: According to a recent study, almost 40% of Americans would choose to test embryos for intellectual aptitude. The economists and other researchers who conducted the test are using this percentage as an indicator that the U.S. should pass legislation supporting this practice. But ethicists and gene scientists are still hesitant.

“The people who say that embryos must pass an IQ test to live probably would have been culled by their own parents had the procedure been available then,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “Nurture is just as important as nature when it comes to IQ.  Not to mention that, to judge from current university faculties, morality is inversely related to intelligence.”

Abortion Pill Safety: Media outlets and pro-abortion activists tout that the abortion pill is safer than Tylenol. But their sources for this claim are from 1999 and are far from conclusive. Live Action concludes their “fact check” on this comparison by stating, “In reality, mifepristone cannot be validly compared side-by-side with any legitimate medication – because it isn’t medicine. Medicine’s purpose is to treat disease; pregnancy is not a disease, and the abortion pill’s sole purpose is homicide.”

Compounds for Contraceptives: Researchers funded by the National Institutes of Health discovered a compound that functions as a male contraceptive. The compound, TDI-11861, temporarily disables sperms’ ability to swim and mature. The tests, run only in rats so far, prevented fertility for three hours while not interfering with sexual activity.

The Ethics of Little Brains: Scientists in San Diego are walking a bioethical knife’s edge, growing brain organoids that produce electrical activity. Lead scientist Alysson Muotri addressed the possibility of these little brains gaining consciousness. He claimed that the possibility is “inevitable,” but has no answer for how to navigate that development.

AI Meets IVF: The in-vitro fertilization industry has changed rapidly in the past four decades and it only continues to develop. The IVF industry of the future will include the use of artificial intelligence, as AI becomes a cheaper, faster alternative to a traditional embryologist.

Abortion & Women’s Psyche: A new study proved that abortion neither protects nor improves women’s mental health. On the contrary, abortion is correlated with an increase in mental health issues, from substance abuse to suicide. These facts directly challenge the pro-abortion narrative.

Pro-Life Around the World

EU Examines Fundamental Rights: The San Pablo CEU University Foundation organized an international conference to debate the inclusion of abortion in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. The Federation One of Us and over 50 other civil organizations supported this event. In conclusion, the participants acknowledged the necessity of more “initiatives and legal rigor” to prevent abortion from entering the charter.

Abuses In North Korea: A U.K. Peer spoke out against abuses in North Korea, especially the use of forced abortion as punishment. The peer, Lord David Alton, speaks out against abortion regularly, having publicly stated, “without (the) right to life…all other rights are worthless.”

“Lord David Alton is an old friend of PRI’s,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “We have worked with him for decades on violations of human rights in population control programs.  Forced abortion is a crime against humanity.”

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Period Pills Incoming: The U.S. may look to import the practice of “menstrual regulation” from Bangladesh in the coming year. This practice uses “missed period pills,” which are simply first-trimester abortion drugs by another name. Abortion advocates are pushing this as the future of their movement, as it has the potential to exploit abortion law loopholes.

Court Rules Against Pro-Lifers: A pro-life group in Spokane owes almost $1 million in fines to Planned Parenthood.  The Spokane County Superior Court charged “the Church of Planned Parenthood” for disrupting clinic activities, resulting in $110,000 in civil damages and $850,000 in legal fees.

“As the number of abortions performed in the U.S. continues to fall thanks to the end of Roe v. Wade, the pro-abortion movement is striking out blindly,” says PRI President Steven Mosher.  “BLM rioters who caused billions of dollars in damage—and traumatized millions of people—have charges dropped, while peaceful pro-lifers are selectively prosecuted.  Anyone who has prayed or said the rosary outside of an abortion clinic knows these are false charges.  These prayer warriors broke no laws by gathering on public property to sing and pray.”

Wearing Your Beliefs: After a visit during the March for Life, three pro-lifers filed a lawsuit against the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Employees at the institution required the group to remove or cover up their clothing because of the pro-life messages on them.

Satanist Clinic Opens: New Mexico bishops are facing radical pro-abortion developments in the state. These developments include “House Bill 7: Reproductive & Gender-affirming Health Care,” alongside the arrival of a self-proclaimed “satanist” abortion clinic. The latter, named  “Samuel Alito’s Mom’s Satanic Abortion Clinic,” is an offshoot of “The Satanic Temple” in Massachusetts.

Good News

Big Brother Saves the Day: An eight-year-old boy stepped up to help his mom during birth when his little brother’s arrival couldn’t wait for the paramedics. The only help available to his mother, little Malone did not panic. At her instruction, he called 911, grabbed towels, and helped catch the baby.

Quote of the Week

“Life will triumph: this is a sure hope for us. Yes, life will triumph because truth, goodness, joy and true progress are on the side of life. God, who loves life and gives it generously, is on the side of life.”

~ Pope Saint John Paul II, source
