PRI in the Media

Shopping App Scam: In the past year, the Chinese shopping app TEMU has gained millions of downloads. But unsuspecting downloaders don’t realize the dark truths behind the deals app. TEMU was created by a company that steals personal data and delivers it straight to the CCP.

Faith & Reason Shoutout: PRI President Steven Mosher’s above piece on TEMU was one of the many topics discussed on last week’s episode of John-Henry Westen’s show Faith & Reason. Elizabeth Yore, the founder of Yore Children, echoed Mr. Mosher’s warning to avoid TEMU, along with all other CCP-affiliated apps. “We’ve got to be smart about it, just like we have to be smart about TikTok,” Yore stated. “I don’t care if you’re entertained by it or your kids are entertained. Turn off that contact with the CCP through apps or through whatever entertainment they’re trying to use.”

Deepening Depopulation

Our Demographic Ponzi Scheme: The global demographic crisis is a slow-moving train wreck, but a long-term solution is possible. Pronatalist crusaders Malcolm and Simone Collins shared that immigration and AI will not save us, but a key cultural motivator might. If only a few families in every culture valued, and taught their kids to value, intergenerational durability, the dying world could be saved.

“The solution to America’s demographic collapse is within ourselves,” says Mr. Mosher.  “Young couples need to realize that love doesn’t divide, it multiplies. Not everyone is going to resonate with that message. But even if only a small percentage of the population does, they will more than make up for the barren singletons who are dissipating their lives on social media, or gaming away their days in some alternate universe of the mind.”

Communist China

Stealing Seeds: The CCP has started clearing large tracts of land for what has been called a “New Great Leap Forward.” This seemingly harmless attempt to ensure “food security” actually involves the theft of intellectual property from the United States. China wants agricultural prowess that rivals the U.S., and it is willing to steal the technology and seeds to do so.

“The evil that is the CCP is incapable of creating anything,” says Mr. Mosher.  “It can only steal and destroy, in this case, billions of dollars of research into higher-producing seeds, which it will use to boost its own agricultural production and destroy ours with genetically engineered attacks.  The time to decouple is now.”

Military Ability on TV: China has released a new documentary showcasing the army’s preparations to attack Taiwan. “Chasing Dreams,” an eight-part docu-series on this topic, was released in honor of the People Liberation Army’s 96th anniversary. It features military drills, as well as several testimonies from soldiers claiming their willingness to die in a potential attack against Taiwan.

Sinicization in Seminaries: Leaders in China’s state-run church are calling for further sinicization in seminaries, down to aligning textbooks to the government’s ideology. These wishes were expressed during the latest meeting of the Working Group on the progress of the compilation of “unified teaching materials” in Catholic seminaries.

Science Gone Mad

Savage Remarks: Professor Wendy Savage, president of Doctors for Choice UK, seems to have implied that abortions at any stage are justifiable because “babies die every week.” This opinion arose while discussing the case of Carla Foster on LBC radio. Foster aborted her child at ~32 weeks gestation, at least 8 weeks after the 24-week time limit for abortions in the UK.

“Savage is an appropriate surname for a medical practitioner who thinks her job is not to save lives, but to justify their taking of them,” says Mr. Mosher. “We must not rest until all abortions–at whatever point in pregnancy they occur–are banned.”

Endorsing Experiments: The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has drawn criticism for endorsing the idea that children can consent to experimental “transgender” medical treatments. The organization voiced support for “gender-affirming care,” despite acknowledging that more research is necessary. The AAP has decided to launch a systematic review of the evidence for and against these treatments, which will hopefully uncover the truth of these dangerous procedures.

Pro-Life Around the World

Pioneers in Assisted Suicide: A Toronto man will appear in court for taking the availability of assisted suicide into his own hands. Kenneth Law believes that there should be no limits on committing suicide. With this mindset, he supplied 1200 suicide kits to individuals in 40 separate countries. In a discussion with an undercover investigative reporter, Law denied being a killer and claimed, “I’m not assisting anything; I’m selling a product.”

Arrested for Prayer: A UK council took legal action against an army veteran for silently praying within an abortion facility buffer zone. The Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council initially issued the charge against Adam Smith-Connor on May 12th but did not contact him until over two months later. Mr. Smith-Connor, charged for silently praying for the son he lost to abortion, appeared for his first hearing this past week.

Counseling Law Reinstated: A federal appeals court has reinstated a law in Guam that requires an in-person consultation prior to an abortion. This law had previously been blocked since 2021, allowing telemedicine abortions provided by two Hawaiian doctors from almost 4,000 miles away.

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Challenges to Hyde: Two recently instituted federal abortion provisions may raise the possibility of legal challenges against the decades-old Hyde amendment. The U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Veterans Affairs now offer abortion coverage for employees and veterans, respectively. These new allowances may contradict Hyde, which prohibits the government from using taxpayer dollars to fund abortion.

Judge Blocks Unjust Law: A federal judge has issued a preliminary injunction against an Illinois law classifying pro-life pregnancy resource centers as using “unfair methods” to assist pregnant mothers. The law, which targets these centers for offering alternatives to abortion, is temporarily blocked. The work of these centers is crucial in Illinois, which has become a haven for abortion-on-demand since the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

Vermont Targets Pregnancy Centers: A new law in Vermont may ban pro-life pregnancy centers from offering non-medical services and providing post-abortion counseling. Two centers have retaliated by filing a lawsuit on the grounds that the new law infringes on the pregnancy centers’ ability to exercise their right of free speech and provide services to women for their pregnancies.

Hotspot for Traffickers: Multiple studies have found that Planned Parenthood is a hotspot for sex traffickers to bring their victims. Up to 30% of survivors were taken to a Planned Parenthood affiliate during their time being trafficked. Some of these survivors even reported their experiences of visiting Planned Parenthood multiple times without receiving any help or intervention to escape their traffickers.

Good News

High-Speed Birth: Train passengers en route from Rome to Turin on July 4th erupted in cheers at the early arrival of their newest travel mate. The premature baby, Anna, was born onboard a high-speed train after her mother labored for only 40 minutes, supported by fellow passengers and a midwife on video call. The train manager, Loredana Ferreri, shared, “I’m happy to have contributed to this beautiful moment. I’ve been working for Trenitalia since 1995 and I think this will remain the most … beautiful day of my professional career.”

Quote of the Week

“The family is the ‘first and vital cell of society.’ In its own way it is a living image and historical representation of the mystery of the Church. The future of the world and of the Church, therefore, passes through the family.”

~ Pope Saint John Paul II, source
