A Note From Our President

PRI President Steven Mosher states, “Those who would weaponize the government against pro-lifers and their leaders have, I think, completely exposed themselves with their latest attack on the rule of law. The President whose Supreme Court picks led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade is in the crosshairs of a movement that wants abortion up to, and in some cases even beyond, birth. If they can get away with prosecuting Trump for exercising his freedom of speech and assembly, pro-lifers will be next on the chopping block. The rights of not just the unborn, but of all Americans, are now at serious risk.”

PRI in the Media

Dangerous Apps: Steven Mosher discusses the danger of Chinese apps with a guest host on One Nation with Brian Kilmeade. Listen now to hear about a new Chinese Communist online store called TEMU, the latest example of an app that likely hands user data over to the Chinese Communist Party.

Fauci’s Biggest Lie: New emails reveal that Anthony Fauci probably took the lab leak theory of COVID seriously while disparaging it in public interviews. Mr. Mosher wrote about the plausibility of such a theory early on in a February 2020 op-ed, which Facebook and Twitter attempted to censor.

White House Influences Facebook: Facebook removed COVID-related posts, including that the virus was man-made, under the influence of the White House before July 2021. The article mentions Facebook banning Mr. Mosher’s op-ed on COVID leaking from a lab, noting that PRI’s president has not had his account reinstated yet.

Foreign Policy Embarrassments: PRI’s Christopher Manion recounts two embarrassing incidents involving U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. Read about Blinken receiving a moral lecture from China, with quotes from Mr. Mosher, and celebrating the bloody and anti-Catholic French Revolution on social media.

COVID Controversy

Challenging Closed Churches: The former EU Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief initiated a legal challenge to “unfair and disproportionate” bans on public worship during COVID. Dr. Jan Figel submitted arguments to the European Court of Human Rights about the bans on worship in Slovakia. The final ruling could potentially set a precedent for 46 European states regarding religious freedom.

“Who can forget that while churches were closed during the Covid lockdowns, abortion clinics were allowed to remain open,” says Mr. Mosher. “This wasn’t a medical decision, but a political one. The godless Left regards abortion as an ‘essential service,’ but God as superfluous.”

Planned Parenthood Investigation: Planned Parenthood may face an investigation for the $20 million they received through the CARES Act passed during COVID-19. Republican lawmakers are calling for action to examine whether Planned Parenthood submitted “false or misleading information” to receive money from the Provider Relief Fund.

Deepening Depopulation

Demographic Disaster in Japan: A decrease in the number of Japanese nationals occurred in all Japanese prefectures for the first time ever. The number of nationals fell by 800,000 in the last year as the trend of depopulation continued for the 14th consecutive year. The number of deaths in Japan also hit a record high of 1.56 million in 2022, worsening Japan’s crisis of having a rapidly shrinking and aging population.

“The Japanese appear to be in the grip of a death spiral,” says Mr. Mosher. “At the present birth rate of 1.3 children per woman, the population of Japan will fall from its present 125 million to only 73 million by the end of the century. Japan is presently the fastest-aging post-industrial country in the world.”

Polish Population Problem: During the first half of 2023, the birth rate in Poland dropped to the lowest level since World War II. The National Statistics Office reported a 9% drop in births compared to last year, which marks the continuation of a decline that began in 2018.

Communist China

Ticking Bomb: The Biden administration is reportedly searching for malware inserted by the Chinese Communist Party that could cut off power, water, and communications from U.S. military bases and homes. Termed “a ticking time bomb” by one congressional official, the malware would compromise a U.S. response if China attacked Taiwan.

Negative Reviews: Views of China and its foreign policy are largely negative, according to a Pew Research poll conducted in 24 countries. About 67% of adults expressed an unfavorable opinion of China and its international behavior. Another query found that 71% of respondents did not believe that China contributes to peace and stability around the world.

Science Gone Mad

Expanding Euthanasia in Canada: People suffering from mental illnesses may be able to voluntarily end their life if Canada goes forward with expanding euthanasia access. The Canadian government pledged that such individuals would be able to apply for assisted suicide by mid-March 2024. Mental health and pro-life advocates are worried that the change could lead to the avoidable deaths of people with treatable mental illnesses.

“Moral Right” to Die: Pro-euthanasia advocates and the majority of American adults consider euthanasia to be a “moral right” in the face of extreme suffering. However, this mentality wrongly portrays death as a rational solution and leads to the trivialization of life.

Pro-Life Around the World

Protests in Honduras: Tens of thousands of people marched to protest a law that would promote mandatory gender ideology and contraceptive education in Honduran schools. The law, passed by the Honduran Congress, will either be signed or vetoed by President Xiomara Castro.

India’s Second March for Life: India will soon have its second March for Life, with the first one occurring last year. The Catholic population in India stands at just 1.55%, making the pro-life cause less well-known among the general public. However, pro-life Indian activist Sebastian Aashish expressed optimism in the country’s small but growing pro-life movement.

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Violence for Abortion: A new poll found that 31 million Americans support violent action to reinstate abortion in U.S. law. The University of Chicago survey stated that the number rose from 22 million in only three months. The recent poll also found that one in six Democrats believes abortion rights justify force.

Targeting Pregnancy Centers: A new Illinois law allows the state attorney general to investigate pregnancy centers that use “deceptive tactics” to turn women away from getting an abortion. Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul claimed in a press conference that “crisis pregnancy centers” use different methods of deceiving or misinforming women to prevent them from going to abortion appointments.

“The state of Illinois is actively targeting crisis pregnancy centers on behalf of Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers,” said Mr. Mosher. “The abortion movement has never been about ‘choice,’ but rather about maximizing profit by maximizing the numbers of abortions.”

Fertility Win: The Biden Administration must pay $65,000 in attorneys’ fees for denying insurance coverage for fertility awareness-based methods of family planning under the Affordable Care Act. The administration attempted to only have insurance cover contraceptives and abortifacients without leaving women with a more natural and moral alternative.

Good News

Kangaroo Care Succeeds: The Hungarian Preterm Patient Association is promoting skin-to-skin family therapy as a method of care for premature babies. As part of this promotion, the organization celebrated International Kangaroo Care Awareness Day. Backed by research, the kangaroo method significantly improves early development in early babies by as much as 76%.
