PRI in the Media

An Australian Q&A: Family Life International Australia hosted PRI President Steven Mosher for a Q&A session. The questions ranged from Communist China to COVID-19, following his talk on “Censorship, Coercion & Informed Consent” in Sydney.

COVID Controversy

Suspend the Jab: This past Fall, researchers recommended a suspension of COVID-19 vaccines for pregnant women, until further research could prove its safety for both mother and child. Since the rollout of the vaccine in 2021, numerous side effects on menstrual cycles and pregnancies came to light. Included in the lengthy list of side effects is a shocking 27-fold increased chance of miscarriage. PRI warned of these negative effects, discovered by Dr. James Thorpe, in March of 2022.

Deepening Depopulation

Population Control Coming: Egypt is the most populated Arab country, but leaders of the country see this as a liability instead of an asset. These leaders are calling for renewed population control efforts. As of right now, this includes rewards for women who have two children or fewer.  But moving forward this could easily turn into punishments for those who do not comply with population restrictions.

Running Out of Babies: Progressive attitudes are quickly catapulting countries around the globe into demographic decline. Only 3% of the world’s population currently lives in a country whose birth rate isn’t declining. Among these, several countries will lose half their populations by the end of the century.

“I have often said that modernity may prove, in the long run, to be a collective suicide pact,” says Mr. Mosher. “Of the two dozen or so factors that influence fertility all but advances in reproductive technology are working to drive fertility downward. Where this stops, nobody knows.”

Can Korea Save Itself?: On average, South Korea has the world’s lowest fertility rate at 0.78. In contrast, North Korea maintains a birth rate of 1.8-1.9. If reunification were ever possible, the question would remain: can North Korea save its Southern counterpart from demographic collapse or would South Korea bring them both down?

Family Time Ranks High: Americans may be having fewer children on average, but they still value family time. In a survey by Pew Research, family time outranked all other personal pursuits in importance for a majority of Americans. 73% listed it as the most important activity in their lives, with another 18% categorizing it as very important.

“Obviously, most Americans are receiving too little of what they most value in life, that is to say, time with their families,” says Mr. Mosher. “Those who reject marriage and/or childbearing altogetherand there are growing numbers of thesewill find themselves bereft of what most matters in life as they grow older. At the end of the day, it’s all about families and God.”

Communist China

Complicit in Abuse: The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) presented evidence to parliament that the U.K. is complicit in forced abortions in China. The representatives of SPUC included that these abortions are indirectly funded by U.K. taxpayers, despite 60% of British citizens wanting to cut funding to China because of Uyghur abuses.

Taking Turns: China is facing a demographic crisis, but not all companies are on board with prioritizing childbearing. One such company requested that three female employees “take turns” getting pregnant. That way the company would not be short-staffed with three employees gone at once.

Unemployed Youths: This month, China released statistics on unemployment for young people and it is at an all-time high. For individuals between 16 and 24 years old, the percentage is 20.4. This does not bode well, especially with 11.6 million students set to graduate from college and vocational schools, ready to enter the job market.

UN Misdeeds

WHO Sneaks Forward: In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Health Organization has subtly moved forward with a global governance plan. The current World Health Assembly is poised to increase the WHO’s mandate over the health care decisions of sovereign nations. According to former congresswoman Michele Bachmann, the WHO could have greatly increased power and control as soon as one year from now.

Pro-Life Around the World

Shots Fired at HV?: Throughout the past year, the stance of Archbishop Paglia and the Pontifical Academy for life on Humanae Vitae has been a subject of debate. Now an anonymous source shares that Paglia is preparing a document for Pope Francis that would lay the groundwork to “overturn” Pope Paul VI’s encyclical.

“Humanae Vitae is a prophetic document that predicted many of the evils that wouldand haveresulted from contraception, sterilization, and abortion,” says Mr. Mosher. “It is a critical link in a millennia-long chain of consistent Catholic teaching on the importance of being open to life.  It must not be abandoned in a misguided attempt to align the Church with the deadly and diabolical ‘spirit of the age.’ That’s why we created the Humanae Vitae Project to promote Pope Paul VI’s teaching.”

An Inquiry Into Abuses: A Senate inquiry in Australia heard evidence of disabled women facing forced abortions and sterilizations. Multiple organizations contributed evidence to the inquiry, though the Senate’s report only included a small section discussing the abuses.

Living Being or Person?: Julio Vaqueiro of Telemundo conducted a wide-ranging interview with Pope Francis. On the topic of abortion, the Holy Father defended the Church’s stance against the evil practice. However, while doing so, he stated, in reference to an unborn baby, “I’m not saying a person, it’s a living being.”

“Ensoulment occurs at conception,” says Mr. Mosher. “And that ensoulment means that we are talking about a human person from the very first moment of the baby’s existence.  I welcome the Pope’s remarks, but I wish he would have been even clearer.”

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Abortion Protection in NV: This week, Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo signed a pro-abortion bill into law. The new legislation bars state agencies from assisting out-of-state investigations that could lead to prosecuting a woman who got an abortion. Abortion is legal in the state, up to 24 weeks, but government officials are aiming to enshrine the right to abortion into the state’s constitution by 2026.

Heartbeat Heard in SC: Last Thursday, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster signed a heartbeat bill into law. The Fetal Heartbeat and Protection from Abortion Act went into effect immediately. The legislation protects babies after six weeks, though includes exceptions for rape and incest, the life of the mother, and fetal abnormalities up to 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Pro-Life Advocates Assaulted: Two elderly pro-life advocates were assaulted outside of a Baltimore Planned Parenthood last week. 73-year-old Mark Crosby and 80-year-old Dick Schaefer were attacked while praying. The assailant did not rob them, making it clear that the attack was solely because the men are pro-life.

Good News

Sisters’ Simultaneous Pregnancies: Four sisters in Scotland are all expecting babies within a few months of each other. This summer, the number of babies in their immediate family will double. Statistically rare, these sisters have been able to share this experience and their babies will be able to enjoy having cousins their age.

Quote of the Week

“The womb should be the safest place, not the most dangerous. Mothers should protect their children, and fight for their rights, not destroy them.”
