A Response to the Midterms:

“I would tell Pro-Lifers, who may be disappointed in the outcome of certain races, that we should all focus on the big picture,” says PRI President Steven Mosher.  “We almost certainly control the House, and hopefully the Senate as well.  We will be able to initiate legislation, hold hearings, and use the power of the purse to block some of the Biden Administration’s efforts to promote, perform, and lobby for the legalization of abortion at the state level and overseas.

“I personally believe we still have an enormous amount of work to do to ensure election integrity in this country.  Nevertheless, going forward, we will be in a position to expose and stop the worst abuses of the Party of Abortion going forward.  So let’s count our blessings.”

PRI in the Media

Oster Wants Amnesty: Professor Emily Oster of Brown University recently published an article calling for “Pandemic Amnesty.” Oster argues for the “need to forgive one another for what we did and said when we were in the dark about COVID.” But with many states still implementing unnecessary COVID-19 policies and the country still reeling from the collective result of these mistakes, it is impossible to forgive and forget the ongoing harm.

Communist China

A New Way to Control: The Zero-Covid policy, enforced throughout China, is the CCP’s latest tool to exercise social control. Now regarded as an industry in itself,  Zero-Covid parallels the old one-child policy with its zealous enforcers, routine abuse, and willful ignorance of the economic damage the policy will cause.

“The continuing lockdowns in China are not about Covid,” says PRI President Steven Mosher.  “They are a test of loyalty to the tyrant, Xi Jinping, who put them in place.  They are also, like the one-child policy, a general stress test of the Communist system of total control.  But they may also be a kind of Civil Defense training program for the Chinese people, getting them ready for war.”

Suicidal State Secrets: The CCP’s Zero-Covid tactics severely isolated millions of citizens, causing rising depression and despair among the public. Rising suicides would be a natural result of the inhumane policies but, vigilant against appearing weak, the CCP is not releasing the data on the total number of suicides during the pandemic. Instead, it is classified, and regarded as “state secrets.”

UN Misdeeds

Criminalizing Homophobia: The UN General Assembly is considering a treaty that would make homophobia a crime against humanity. The treaty abandons a traditional view of gender, opening the door to punishment for any leader who criticizes either the LGBT or trans agenda.

Science Gone Mad

Abortion’s Lasting Effects: A new peer-reviewed study examined the effects on women who abort their first pregnancy. Compared to women who carry their first to term, on average women who abort will have more abortions and miscarriages in the future. This, along with their other findings on the detriment to the mental and physical well-being of  women who have abortions, adds to the growing evidence contradicting the lie that abortion is, “a woman’s gateway to a better life.”

Banning Trans Treatment: Last Friday, Florida health officials banned providing “gender-affirming care” to minors in the state. This is ground-breaking, as Florida is the first state to successfully ban trans treatments through its medical board. Moving forward, this will protect children from puberty-blocking hormone treatments and sex-reassignment surgeries.

Conscience at Risk: The World Medical Association (WMA) released the latest International Code of Medical Ethics last month. But ambiguous wording in this document may endanger doctors’ freedom of conscience when it comes to abortion and euthanasia.

Pro-Life Around the World

Praise for Mazzucato: In a recent in-flight press conference, Pope Francis praised his Pontifical Academy for Life appointee Mariana Mazzucato for bringing “a little more humanity” to the PAL. Despite the well-known fact that Mazzacuto supports abortion “rights,” the Holy Father has not commented on her pro-abortion beliefs.

Suicide Pods in Scotland: The inventor of the “sarco” suicide pods is now campaigning for their use in Scotland. Philip Nitschke’s “suicide capsules” are essentially portable gas chambers. At this time, no response has been issued from the member of the Scottish Parliament that Nitschke contacted, Liberal Democrat Liam McArthur.

Pro-Life on the Home Front

Extreme Amendment Passed: Michigan’s Proposal 3 successfully passed on Tuesday, enshrining the “right” to kill the unborn within the state. Even worse, minors can now have abortions, and receive transgender treatments, without any parental consent necessary.

“The pro-life cause suffered some setbacks this week.  Proposal 3 passed in Michigan, which overturned that state’s ban on abortion,” says PRI President Steven Mosher.  “And a constitutional amendment was approved by California voters that will legalize abortion up to, and perhaps even after, birth.  The end of Roe means that the battle for Life now moves to the 50 states and, sadly, this week saw two of those states adopt policies no different from those of Communist China.”

Money-Making Murder: California’s radical constitutional amendment aimed at enshrining abortion throughout pregnancy, Proposition 1, was approved during this week’s midterms. This was unfortunately expected as the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) poured $50 million into the proposition’s campaign, on top of the millions Newsom spent on it as well. This push for Proposition 1 was motivated by the PPFA and Newsom’s hope to increase the money-making business of murdering the unborn.

Justice for Pro-Life Centers: Since the overturn of Roe v. Wade, pro-life centers have been the target of attacks by pro-abortion activists. The Department of Justice was silent on these violent acts until now. The DOJ issued a response, announcing that the attacks can be charged under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, but failed to offer an explanation for the previous lack of action.

“There is a great deal of difference between saying that attacks on pro-life centers can be charged under the FACE Act, and actually charging a pro-abortion radical under this statute,” says PRI President Steven Mosher.  “Of course, before charging anyone they first have to arrest them.  And, so far, the FBI can’t seem to locate anyone responsible for the dozens of attacks that have occurred.”

Life-Saving Laws: Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is keeping track of pro-life legislation around the country. State-by-state, it shows where life is protected and estimates how many lives are saved by those laws.

PRI President Steven Mosher says, “Some pro-lifers may still be under the impression that the end of Roe meant the end of abortion.  Of course, in some states, with preexisting or trigger laws, it did.  But in other states it has had the unhappy consequence of expanding abortions.  California, for example, went to the extreme of offering to pay for moms from other states to visit an abortion clinic there to end the life of their unborn child.  Others have attempted to expand access to the abortion pill.  And the battle is only beginning.”

Good News

Micro-Preemie Survived: Two years ago, Baby Hadrian was born at 27 weeks, weighing only 540g. Categorized as a micro-preemie, he battled for life through underdeveloped lungs, imbalanced blood sugar levels, and three bouts of sepsis. But today, showcasing the advances that have been made in care for premature babies, he is a thriving two-year-old!

Quote of the Week

“We must live and act in radical solidarity with mothers, children, and families in need. That means doing whatever we can through law, policy, politics, and culture to provide them with the care and support necessary for their flourishing throughout the entire arc of life’s journey.”

~Archbishop William E. Lori, source
