PRI in the Media

Heartbeats of the Unborn: As more states consider banning abortion once a heartbeat is detected, pro-abortion activists work harder to convince the public that the heartbeat isn’t real. From Planned Parenthood stealth-editing their website to alter the definition of an early fetal heartbeat to Stacey Abram’s public claim that the heartbeat is a “manufactured” sound, pro-abortion groups and individuals are scrambling to cover up the humanity of all unborn babies.

Deepening Depopulation

Metaverse Children: AI expert Catriona Campbell is claiming that ‘metaverse’ children will become the norm by 2050. In her book “Tamagotchi generation,” Campbell predicts that one-day virtual children will be “indistinguishable” from real children. This she touts as providing a better way of parenting and as a solution to the fictional issue of overpopulation.

“Humanoid robots will never replace human babies,” says PRI President Steven Mosher.  “No matter how lifelike they become, they will still be missing the fundamental element that makes them truly human—the soul.”

Investigation Incoming: Denmark and Greenland agreed to a two-year investigation into a population control scandal from the 1960s to 1970s. During that time, thousands of Inuit women were fitted with IUDs by Danish doctors, many without knowledge or consent.

“Many women in Greenland had their fertility stolen from them by a Danish government under the sway of the myth of overpopulation,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “Such programs were always a case of the majority targeting a particular minority that it regarded as too prolific.  Inserting an IUD in a girl just entering puberty without her or her parent’s knowledge or consent is a violation of human rights.  When it is done against an entire people, as it apparently was against the Inuits of Greenland, it is properly considered a form of genocide.”

Communist China

Left Alone in Old Age: The one-child policy stole the possibility of multiple children from countless couples in China, and today many of them are alone after losing the only child they were allowed to have. In his research, Professor Lihong Shi interviewed over one-hundred Chinese couples who, after their reproductive years ended, lost their only child to illness, accident, suicide, or murder. These couples are alone in a country that traditionally relies on children for elderly care and is unprepared for the rising number of elderlies who need assistance.

The Xi Era’s Effect: Prior to Xi Jinping’s reign, the U.S. view of China fluctuated, not leaning majorly in favor or not. After he took power, this opinion started to decline with severe dips after the beginning of the 2018 trade war and the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The Pew Research Center’s comprehensive examination of this topic includes other countries’ opinions and the factors that play into the global view of China.

UN Misdeeds

Abortion Decisions Ignored: Countries of the UN General Assembly have never come to a unanimous decision regarding abortion, with many countries opposed to the heinous practice. But UN agencies and “experts” are ignoring this lack of agreement and steamrolling ahead with the “safe” abortion agenda.

Speaking Up for Family: Last week, Archbishop Gabriele Caccia presented the case for supporting and uplifting the family through social programs. His presentation at the UN Third Committee of the General Assembly defended the interdependence of individuals, families, and communities. The relationship between these three means the strengthening of one will strengthen the others.

Science Gone Mad

Partial Resurrection: Doctors are toeing the bioethical line with the new way of collecting viable organ donations. Referred to as “partial resurrection,” doctors are allowing terminal patients to die, restarting their hearts, and cutting off that blood to the brain. This ensures that the patient is brain-dead but keeps their organs fresh with blood flow.

CA Trans Craze Continues: This week, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed the “trans refuge bill” into law. As of January 1st, 2023, the California courts will be able to take custody of children to provide medical experimentation (through puberty blockers, hormone therapies, and surgeries) without the knowledge or consent of their parents.

“Imagineif you can bring yourself tothat you are the parents of a young girl who has been convinced by Tic Tok that she would be happier as a boy,” says PRI President Steven Mosher.  “And then she learns that if she runs away from home to California, that state will pay for the hormones, and even the surgery, which will enable her to act on this bizarre fantasy, even as they strip her parents of their rights over their minor daughter.  How can this be happening in America?”

Pro-Life Around the World

“Equal Access” in India: Pro-abortion activists are cheering for India’s Supreme Court, which loosened abortion restrictions again. Last Thursday, the court ruled that all women, regardless of marital status, can obtain an abortion up to twenty-four weeks gestation. This followed last year’s update which moved the abortion limits from 20 weeks to 24 weeks for married women.

Abortion Chain Spreads: A U.K. abortion provider is spreading to more locations, despite previously being caught breaking the law. Doctors at the National Unplanned Pregnancy Advisory Service (NUPAS) were caught pre-signing blank abortion consent forms in 2012. But this year they are planning to open three new abortion clinics in Battersea, Stafford, and Leeds.

Pro-Life on the Home Front

The Catholic Opinion: EWTN conducted a poll to get the lay of the land for the upcoming mid-term elections. A majority of Catholics are against Biden running for a second term, with a little over half the participants disapproving of his current handling of the job. But while those priorities may be in order, Catholic voters have let the abortion issue drop, with inflation taking first as the number one concern.

“The Catholic Church, aided by an informed laity, needs to speak loudly and clearly on the preeminent civil rights issue of our time,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “All people are endowed by their Creator with certain fundamental rights, chief among these is the right to life. Each and every one of the millions of preborn babies who are aborted each year is being denied that right.”

The Ban and the Loophole: Arizona’s abortion ban may have been upheld, but abortion providers are getting craftier. A Phoenix clinic is sending patients to telehealth appointments with California doctors for access to the abortion pill, paid for by the Abortion Fund of Arizona. Conservative, and pro-life, leader of the Center for Arizona Policy Cathi Herrod responded to this development by stating, “The plan for abortion pills shows a stunning disregard for the health and well-being of the mother. I’m not surprised that the abortion industry would care more about their bottom line and about selling pills than they would about taking care of women still.”

Contraceptives on Campus: Pro-abortion advocates are attacking the Dobbs decision again, this time for the University of Idaho’s restriction of contraceptives. Pro-aborts are sowing fear of the collapse of reproductive health care completely, as institutions simply try to avoid any reason for prosecution, leaving students to produce their own means of having “safe” sex.

Biden and the Church: In response to Lindsey Graham’s national abortion ban proposal, Biden responded with inaccuracies and falsehood. Biden blasted the ban for not having exceptions, ignoring (or forgetting) the fact that it does. He also went so far as to claim his church does not support banning abortion after fifteen weeks, despite the Catholic Church being staunchly against abortion at any stage.

“Our ‘Catholic’ president obviously has no idea what the Church teaches on the life issues,” says PRI President Steven Mosher. “Or perhaps he simply doesn’t care. After a lifetime in politics, Joe Biden seems to have accustomed himself to saying whatever he thinks will please his base, regardless of whether it bears any relation at all to reality.”

Good News

Saving Life Despite Chaos: A baby boy’s life was saved by a rare c-section technique that required a team of over 25 specialists to perform mid-birth. During the pregnancy, Jamaal and Yadi Martin were told their unborn son Aydin had a congenital syndrome that was usually fatal. But despite the difficult delivery, 169 days in the NICU, followed by almost 6 months in rehabilitation, the Martin’s never lost their faith. Today, Aydin has an excellent prognosis and was able to go home with his parents just shy of his first birthday.

Quote of the Week

“At its core, social development is solidarity put into practice. We all rely on other people; no person is an object, to be used and discarded at will. Rather, our interdependence enriches our lives, families, and communities.”

~Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, source
