Pro-Life Provisions in the Senate Health Care Reform Bill

Last week, Senate Republicans unveiled their proposed health care reform draft bill to “repeal and replace Obamacare.” The Senate has made a number of significant changes to the bill passed by the House last month, but, despite earlier concerns from some pro-life advocates, has retained key provisions to defund Planned Parenthood and to block federal subsidies for health care plans that include coverage for abortion. Obama wants you to pay for abortions—but he doesn’t want you to know about it!

I’m all in favor of providing public health care for the poor and indigent, but the Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare) is coming to look more and more like a patchwork quilt of deceit. Everyone by now knows—many from sad experience—that the claims that “If you like your doctor and your health care plan, you can keep your doctor and your health care plan,” were simply not true. Hundreds of thousands of doctors …

Russia Chooses Life

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law banning abortion advertising. Some members of the Duma (the Russian state assembly), are talking about going even further and banning the procedure itself.  The Russian Orthodox Church, whose numbers are swelling with converts and “reverts,” is weighing in as well.  One Orthodox prelate called abortion a “mutiny against God.” I couldn’t have put it better myself. This is an amazing turn about in a country which …
