Unfortunately, many of the leading vaccine candidates for the 2019 novel coronavirus are being developed using cell lines that were originally derived from a number of babies that were aborted in the 1960s and 1970s.
It encourages pharmaceutical companies to continue developing new drugs, vaccines, and therapeutics with cell lines derived from abortions.
Unfortunately, some of this research is being funded by the U.S. government, including through grants awarded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Fortunately, there are many ethical promising alternatives that can be used for developing vaccines and therapeutics for COVID-19, including, but not limited to:
Some of these alternatives have been used for decades in the development of vaccines and have a proven track record of success. Many potential vaccines and therapeutics developed using ethical alternatives are already showing encouraging results. And some are already slated to begin clinical trials soon.
