Steven Mosher will appear on “The World Over” tonight at 8 p.m. EST, discussing the developing situation regarding Chinese human rights activist and longtime political prisoner, Chen Guangcheng, who escaped from house arrest to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, and is now back in the hands of the Chinese authorities.
The blind, self-taught attorney has been a vocal critic of forced abortions and forced sterilizations in the one-child policy and, more generally, an advocate of human rights. While in the U.S. Embassy, he asked to meet with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, but no meeting took place. Instead he was wrongly quoted by state department personnel as saying about Secretary Clinton that “I want to kiss you,” when in fact he said, “I want to see you.”
He only left the U.S. Embassy because his wife and daughter were brought to Beijing by the Chinese security forces and used to lure him out to a supposed “meeting” with them. He did meet them, at a hospital — and now they are all under guard by Chinese police.
Apparently, Obama administration officials have conspired with the Beijing regime to put Chen back in their hands. God knows what will happen to him now.
“The Obama administration regards the blind Chinese human rights activist as a speed bump on the Clinton-Geithner Road Show to China,” says Steven Mosher, one of America’s leading China experts. “They are wrong. His fate is far more important than hawking American treasury bonds. In fact, he may be the spark that starts a prairie fire.”
“Chen Guangcheng and I have been fighting the same battle for years,” says Mosher. “I am an eyewitness to forced abortions, coercive sterilizations and infanticide in China. Chen is the blind attorney who documented 7,000 cases of forced abortions in one small part of Shantung province, and sought justice for the women and children thus victimized.”
